Roll backs, how so many?

We've been on the TTD 6 times this year, and 25 to 30 times last season. And never have got a roll back. So i'm not sure of the claims of some with so many. But, the ? i have is, is the rolling back the best part, or is getting a second launch off? List launch off's and RB's. Someone can give a play by play too. And is it just the luck of the draw, or is there something to look for to get a RB? We'll be there 6-6 sunday, look for us.

The rolling back is the best part, of course, because you are travelling backwards 400+ feet. That's why front seat is the best during a rollback because you can watch all the track going away from you instead of towards you. Also when going backwards you don't have 120 mph wind in your face, so you can have your eyes wide open and look at everything in reverse. It's a great once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. (well, some people get lucky and have multiple rollbacks, oh well.) The second launch is good, too.

The only reason I got a rollback is because it was last year and it was the first train out for the day. And that was the only train that rolled back the entire day. The only thing I know to look for to get a rollback is if it is a semi-cold day and the ride breaks down for maybe 30 minutes or longer. Then, the wheels are getting colder (I think) and the first or second train to launch after that break down has a nice chance of rolling back. (especially if it is the purple train ). *** Edited 6/5/2004 4:09:55 PM UTC by dertsanchez***

I got mine after a rain delay of 1 hr 30 minutes. I'm suprised they don't test before they load people up. I was the first train out after the delay btw. Then the next three trains that launched after us went over. Then the fourth one rolled back. *** Edited 6/5/2004 4:47:48 PM UTC by Sean_N***

I got my rollbacks right after some downtime. We were actually in the second train to launch after it was down and the first made it just fine, but we rolled back twice. Going backwards down that tower was a lot of fun, and getting 3 launches in a row was pretty cool to.

I really don't understand the huge fuss over getting a rollback. I got a rollback shortly before the park opened for this season and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Sure, it was exciting at the top when you realize you're not going to make it over, but the actual trip backwards wasn't all it's been cracked up to be. I compare it to falling back down the front spike of Wicked Twister... just a lot less twisted, and twice as long.

If you haven't got a rollback on Dragster yet, you're not missing a whole lot. The best part of that ride is still the launch, the rollback simply gives you the bonus of another launch without waiting in line again.

I agree, I think the bonus launch would be the best part. But it still has to be a great rush. See ya at the WT. Are you fun dude, with the "how was your ride...Wicked"?

To add to armsdown... question, Gravity, do you do the countdown to WT's launch in an also fun way? I remember my first time going on the ride the op counted down super fast, then on my second ride he counted down extremely slow and we didn't launch until a couple seconds after he said one. The ops really make it fun at WT.

I've gotten a few being the first train out on a morning where it's pretty cold. I got one where it got really really windy before our launch. I got one on one of those nights where every other train rolled back. And I guess I have a few that came out of no where...those are the fun ones. The best part of being on a rollback is 1. getting to launch again & 2. the bragging rights, because it seems to be what everyone wants soooo bad. I would take the ride running how it's supposed to run over any rollback.

So far, I've only managed one, after it rained for about 20 minutes, three weeks ago. I've missed about 5 by a hair, one we nearly stopped at the top about 2 weeks ago. I thought I might get #2.

For me, the whole rollback happened so fast that I didn't get to savor it. I'm hoping for another, so that I can enjoy the experience this time. I was too busy cheering and hollering to pay attention to what was going on. But it's still fun. :)

Does the weather play a big part in roolbacks? Cause I would think that if it was a hot and humid day it would be totally different than a cold and windy day.

A ride op told me two weeks ago that it was down due to weather conditions...I asked him why, because it was a beautiful sunny day with no wind, and he told me that if it was 35mph+ 420' up on the crest that they will close it until the winds calm down. Even though he told me this, I know park op's aren't allowed to disclose too much info, so I am not sure if this was true or not. *** Edited 6/8/2004 3:28:21 PM UTC by CurrentlyDownDueToFillInTheBlank***

The best part about my rollback was the girl behind me who thought she was about to die. She definitely didn't read the rollback warning sign.
