Anyone do things to make their road trip to CP not seem so long?
Is it just me that does this?? Okay. So I have the very noticable 1990 white Camaro with red stripes. In this camaro I have a CB radio. Either I drive or my boyfriend drives. either way I'm on the CB 24-7. We pass by 1 truck and it seems his eyeballs are stuck. Then he gets on the radio and notifies all ahead there is a white and red Camaro coming up, "so get your view!". Its quite funny as I come up on a truck knowing theyre going to be LICKING THE GLASS (lol just kidding havent seen that yet). Its quite fun. and a good time passer.
nother funny CB story. I was driving to CP last year on my process in date and I was in construction traffic. I was just sitting there and realised they were talking about my car. then I hear "I'm going to drive by and get me a hooters shot!" men sheesh!

Yeah, CB's are good fun, I guess. It's really funny when some woman is flashing trucks, and they'll clog up 3 lanes of traffic to box the car flashing in to see it. (Yes, I have seen that happen before)
I've mostly graduated to Amateur radio, but still keep a 11 meter rig (CB) in my truck. It works as a good traffic source, and entertainment source if you're really bored.
you realize that CB signals can travel miles... ? so that trucker may have been referring to someone else :p
Generally, the average CB signal travels only a few miles. Generally less than 5. I've gotten my setup to work around 13-14 miles, and if you're using Sideband you can get 20+. The legal limit is only 5 watts.
You can tell which signals are nearby and which aren't anyway.
Back in the day, I had a hundred watt kicker and could be picked up by a friend w/ a base and beams from 60+ miles out. Good times.

Nope, it wasn't. I only used it late at night...to keep from broadcasting over the neighbors TVs and radios...I waited til the lights went out around me. Back then, you could really shoot some skip at 3 in the morning!

I had a neighbor a few years back that had a linear and wouldn't use it until after midnight on saturday when he was thoroughly drunk. He would come through my subwoofer, stereo speakers and tv speakers.
I remember hearing a story a few years back about an old woman with am amp that had 1500 watts going out who was coming through supposedly on light bulbs and microwave ovens from what the news said. It was in the late 80's if I remember right.
Ahh the fun of illegal amps :)
I knew everytime they were talking about me b/c they always mentioned the "white and red camaro". There arent that many 3rd gens with red stripes that go from front bumper, roof, and over the spoiler. lol BUT THERE ARE LOOKALIKES OUT THERE ive seen em. waaaaaaaaaaaa I was trying to be original. ;(
