I would not be surprised if the announcement was halfway through Halloweekends to be honest. As long as there is speculation and mystery surrounding this coaster, people will still come to the park to see it and wonder. Whereas if CP were to make an announcement in August, people who might have come to the park in 2017 will just wait until next year for Stampede..or whatever the kids are calling it.
I'm thinking mid-August, like what Kings Dominion is doing for RMC Hurler. I think it makes a lot of sense with the big push to renew passes for the next season. That push/promotion with the free Fast Lane has been around for a couple of seasons now.
CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini
Certainly the announcement is their biggest chip to play for next years pass renewals so im sure an announcement would revolve around that.
First ride; Magnum 1994
I doubt that any announcement or lack thereof will impact Cedar Point's attendance for better or worse. I have to believe that visitors are coming to the park with intentions other than to see and wonder about Mean Streak.
As James Parker jr said, the announcement and a tie in with a Platinum Pass sales push seems likely, and I think we'll see it around the end of daily operation.

I'm not so dead set on 816 being KD's announcement date. That number also happens to be the Kansas City area code. I think these teasers that Cedar Fair parks have been putting out very well could be interconnected in a bigger picture than just separate parks.
2018- Raptor
CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor
Cedar fair makes their announcements before six flags and SF makes theirs the first week of September. There's no secrets as to what cp and kd are getting next year as we all know rmc's are coming , so all thats left is the details of the coasters.

I'all eat my left shoe if Kings Dominion is hyping up the area code for Kansas City.
Anything is possible. I feel like They're Coming refers to the two RMC's. And I don't think 20 Better than 4 is just about Kings Dominion. It may be. But I think It's a real possibility that these teasers are part of a larger chain wide teaser campaign. It's a real possibility that Worlds of Fun is getting a coaster, although it's being overlooked by most simply because everyone thinks it's going to Knotts.

I say CGA and Knott's get new coasters for 2018 in addition to the RMC hybrids for CP and KD. As for what exactly they'll be, I have no clue, so I won't bother speculating.
I can definitely see the teaser being for a larger chain wide teaser campaign. After Mean Streak and Hurler, Timber Wolf at WOF is a likely candidate the receive an RMC overhaul. The ride was re-tracked a few year back, but to no avail that did not eliminate the rickety ride experience. Great observation CoasterCam!
^It was retracked by GCI over 4 years, part by part, if memory serves. I've heard that it removed an intense airtime moment.
CP Rundown just posted this to their Facebook, featuring the first drop after the MCBR:
One question: why does it look like the paint is already peeling off in places of the (supposedly) brand-new track? Did any of RMC's previous projects have that issue?

I can't take credit for it. It's just an idea I've heard thrown around that seems possible to me. If WoF is getting a coaster I doubt it will be an Iron Horse. Remember of the other two, one will be a first of its kind and the other with a company they have worked with before but not recently. The first of its kind sounds like a T-Rex or Raptor track but it's anybody's guess at this point. It's a stretch but I've heard the idea that Cedar Fair may have purchased Kanonen from Liseberg. Which would fit pretty closely with the height that California's Great America has filed for. But again, its a stretch.
Paint comes off in a similar way where pieces of B&M coasters are bolted together but those spots usually get painted over before opening.

^^^ The roller coaster gods are infuriated at the lack of gold track and will not allow paint to stay on until the situation is remedied.
The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.
I think it's just dirt. It'll wash off after a few rains or they will clean it off.

Valravn Rides: 24| Steel Vengeance Rides: 27| Dragster Rollbacks: 1
It only occurs on the pieces that connect 2 different track sections. My guess is it was muddy when they were on the ground with the huge rain this weekend. Nothing is wrong with the paint.
SV ruins all other rides.
If you look at the photos CP Rundown posted, you can clearly see that the track is indeed unpainted in those sections, it isn't dirt. Why? It's anybody's guess but it's not like they will leave it that way.
Tighter, more accurate fit? Maybe some grinding for smoothness between pieces?
Maybe "they're coming" means the painters?
CP made a mistake by having the whole track painted as rmc found out with wicked cyclone. As the paint peels it sticks to the wheels causing the train to vidrate. CP is going to go through a lot of wheels until the paint is worn off. It took WC a full season to wear off the paint where the wheels track.
