Now that you've said that...
I like this idea and while they are at it they could empty the train towards Mean Streak while loading from the south side of the tracks. This would dump everyone from the train RIGHT in front of Mean Streak and improve efficiency of loading with keeping everyone waiting on the other side of the train. This would also make waiting at the crossing less as once the train arrives they could immediately open the gates up.
That would function more along the lines of the station by Millennium, and that would be a lot better than closing the gates both as the train arrives and leaves. I give this the Dvo Stamp of Approval (there's not an actual stamp).
But if they did do that, they could hide the station a little more, and really open up that area to be a lot more welcoming. This is a good idea.

Maybe the extra structure left on the 3rd hill is going to be used to mount cameras on the outward banked turn.
And moving the train station so the crossing gate is where the old photo building is would put the locomotive nearly at the utility crossing behind the buildings. They'd probably need to do more rearranging to accomplish that. Then again, they are supposed to be doing other things in Frontier Town, so it's possible.

Additionally - and this was first posited by someone else, I forget who - the train station could be moved east to approximately where the crossing is now, which would be a much more logical location, as that would open up the midway so that RMCMS is the centerpiece of what is now an awkward split dead end.
Dead Tony did say "Is he happy on this side of the tracks?" in his MS eulogy. I've taken this as some sort of a hint that the railroad will be altered to accommodate RMCMS since the last fall. Quite interesting nonetheless.
The entrance to new Mean Steak could very well be on the south side of the tracks. The entrance along with the exit could have its own crossing gate just as Mantis did for its first few years of operation. There really isn't a reason to have a crossing that leads everyone to a dead end so the on-ride photo/gift shop and "grand entrance" could be built on the opposite side of the tracks from the ride.
New blog entry from Tony w/ some more neat construction area pics. Enjoy!
