Ripcord Vs. #15

Mindy and I were talking about #15 and she brought up a good point.  Its odd how the section of beach near DT could support some huge roller coaster yet the section of beach to the west of the Bon Aire section could not support the foundations for the origonal location of Ripcord.

probably becasue ripcord's footers probably aren't designed as deep as rollercoasters.
Actually.. considering the small footprint that a skycoaster uses as far as footers go.. I would imagine they go deeper..

Less surface area so you need a deeper grip to maximize the space you use.

Also, again, the footprint has alot to do with it.. A coaster spreads it's weight along the various footers.. whereas a skycoaster has everything comming down to 2 spots for teh arch.. and 2 or 3 for the towers..

Care to elaborate about the original location of Ripcord?

Who said it was gonna go on the beach?
Lake, if you're talking about the new coaster, there's already footers planted in the beach by the OCeania Midway. Unless of course it's a mastermind plot of Cedar Point to lead us onto wild goose chases...

I was asking who said RipCord was going to be built on the beach!

The original spot for Ripcord was over by the beach.  I think part of the supports for the arch were going to go on the island of the lazy river.  For those of you who have the 1996 Getaway Guide it shows Ripcord in that spot on the park map.

That isn't surprising since at least one other CF park has a Ripcord that crosses a lagoon and I think a boat ride.  (ps- RiPcOrD's Bri, Stephanie, Martin and Gail ROCK!)

Oh, thanks BioChick! ;) J/K   Anyways, could Sky Fun 1 have anything to do with the planned location change of RipsCord, maybe Sky Fun 1 didn't Like the Idea of the footers going in the sand? I don't know, I'm just making a guess.

Well a lot of the problems with the original placement of ripcord might have just stemmed from the condition of the bedrock in that area.
