Raptor Lights? What do you mean?
That is an additional Seventy dollars added to your season pass, but the great thing is that if you have two of your parking passes with you, you can get refunded up to $16 in parking from that year you obtain your parking pass.
Joe's Cool Club and parking pay for themselves, you get alot of great perks like getting into the park half an hour earlier with Cedar Point Resort Guests to enjoy Exclusive Ride Time on Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force (Mantis when Top Thrill Dragster is down). It makes alot of difference, you can wait fifteen minutes for Millenium Force on a Wednesday morning and still make a short line on Top Thrill Dragster compared to when it is open to the entire public. But when you want to eat, go to the Silver Dollar and purchase an Adult entree for yourself and your guest and you get a free Macho Nacho, that is one of my favorites, and it's worth seven bucks.
The $3 Boardwalk Fries that are available on stands throughout the park, i.e. the one under the corkscrew of Corkscrew. It could be the Best $3 you could spend, I absolutely love it and it is one thing that is worth the price when it comes to edibles at Cedar Point. ( and no I am not talking about cake toppings)
I just found out that you can take those overpriced souvenir cups back to Cedar Point year round and only have to pay the refill price. I haven't done it yet cause I usually eat at one of their restaurants anyway and I dont' want to haul the whole 1 1/2 foot long fountain drink bottle with me everywhere.
The foodstand next to Chaos gave me a free cup of water n my last visit, it was pretty humid out and I was sweating pretty bad. That is better than Mcdonalds which charges you fifteen cents for the cup alone. But that cup of Ice Cold water was worth a million bucks right than and there.
I always go to the Pagoda Gift Shop two doors down from the Snoopy Boutique to buy those bears with the major ride names on them, for some reason I call them "millenium bears", but they are cheaper than other gift shops there and and they are about five dollars each. Great for adding it to your on ride picture collection and if you spend more than ten dollars there then you get a free mug for being in Joe's Cool Club, not the greatest cup but it's a free one. I got two so far and one isn't so bad, it has a checker flag behind "Cedar Point" in white squares.
I always feel like I am paying to ride rides at Cedar Point and all of the shows are something of an extra cost. They have great shows and are always overlooked when you discuss Cedar Point, one of the best things about them are that they are free. You can get into one of the shows early if you are a Joe Cool's Club member though I never used it.
I agree with whoever said Souvenir maps, they are under a dollar and are so big. I wish I would of started collecting them when I first started going to Cedar Point, it changed so much in the past ten years. I did start to collect park maps starting in 1997 with Chaos being introduced, (hasn't that ride never recieved the same attention?) but you could hang that up somewhere. I even like the paper bags that they give you, I cut that out and hang it in the same frame as the most current Cedar Point map.
But they are definitely taking advantage of you when you go into the park and you can't take any food in. They are well over priced for food and drinks, especially since people have to hydrate themselves. I just wonder how much profit do they make off of these drinks and does it have to cost that much. It's not much compared to what you paid for what you entered to the park. But than again they don't want to run out and they have to pay the people who stock the machines probably. Though I did see merchandisers with L-carts in there last time I went. They probably spend money for this girl that goes around and sprays it down and wipes if off. She spends about five minutes per machine for god sakes.
Most souvenirs are overpriced and not worth, probablyb ecause you can get them somewhere else for much cheaper, just not with the name of the park on it.

Best Value: Again, the season passes, parking pass and JCC. Midway Market is the best food value IMO. and yes Freeway (considering that other park charges for the same thing).

i think they are those lights that they sell at night, which die the next day. i don't know what they call them now, but i remember they called them "raptor lights" during the summer that the raptor debuted.

Good deals: Season passes (especially when bought the year before!)...Macho Nachos ($6.95 at Los Gatos Cafe, and big enough for two to share)...Freeway (not that I've ever used it--I get to the park too late)...did anyone say Free Water....and Fascinat.....oh wait, strike that last one

FASCINATION (1955-2000): It *was* the game--the ONLY game--I came to Cedar Point to play
Good Value: Free water (usually all I drink while walking around because pop isn't good for runners), Magnum (not cash-wise but wait vs. quality of ride-wise), FreeWay (especially if it's ever implemented on TTD), and season passes w/JCC of course.

Cedar Point has alot of great values, first of all, if you go twice, it costs about the same as a Season Pass from Meijer. For those of us who go more than eight times a year, the sixty dollar parking pass is great, but they said I had to be a part of Joe's Cool Club to obtain that. That is an additional Seventy dollars added to your season pass, but the great thing is that if you have two of your parking passes with you, you can get refunded up to $16 in parking from that year you obtain your parking pass.

Yea the food is pricey! But consider the fact that the park is seasonal and has a very uneven cashflow. If they did not make a profit we would not have such a nice place to go.
Even though the cost of goods sold on a 16oz. soda is probably in the area of 20-30 cents; paying $2.25 for it plus tax is still cheaper than running out to your car to drink a generic diet Dr. K! I dont buy very much soda in the park (I save my appetite for the Happy Friar!). At the time the munchies seem expensive, looking back, its all part of the territory!
