Riding all 17 CP coasters in 1 day

This was a neat little article I found today in the Sandusky Register, detailing a strategy of how one might be able to feasibly ride all 17 (yes, the article counts Pipe Scream) coasters in one day without the need for Fast Lane:

What kinds of strategies do you use in order to ride all the coasters in the park?

I'm going to disagree with the article's recommendation to go to the front section after TTD at 11 or so, mainly because of the way the crowds are distributed in the park; Raptor/Valravn will still likely be swamped at 11/noon, so the lines will be incredibly long. Similarly, hitting the back of the park in the late afternoon would be unwise since crowds are more concentrated toward the back of the park by then. Instead, I would flip both of these suggestions around; hit the back of the park after TTD at 11, and then go to the front of the park by late afternoon. Other than that, I definitely agree with the early entry plans, especially since Maverick's line is so slow. All coasters are certainly doable in one day; heck, I usually get everything done in a single day with 2 hours to spare for Soak City/CP Shores in the afternoon! It all just depends on how much stamina you have, I guess.

You can knock out 5-7 of the popular coasters out in the closing 2 hours easily even on busy days.
This is not difficult at all.
Do it several times when we stay on point for a week straight each July. We barely even go in the park during the day other than to catch shows or some small rides. We do the beach/ activities and hotel pools, soak city, head into Sandusky and off to CP marina, put in bay.

I agree with XS. During busy days I will get in fairly early and hit a couple rides in the back and during the peak hours I only wait in the shorter lines or eat food or go shopping.

I wouldn't be able to ride Woodstock Express or Jr. Gemini... Unless some parent loaned me their child. Which I don't see happening. Plus, we've already got Single Rider Bob, and that dude that sings and dances to music in the queues. We don't need the kiddie kreeper.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

Woodstock Express you can ride alone, although Wilderness Run you do need a child.

I went to book a site at Lighthouse Point for my birthday weekend in June about a week ago. Found out they were booked solid through the beginning of August. Luckily I booked for a weekend in late August and for a late October weekend. But if you have a trailer or RV you better book now.

I am lucky to do all 17 in a year let alone 1 day. I'll settle for the morning and the night and enjoy the rides I can get onto without the waits in the day. One of the biggest perks of being on point is being able to change clothes and shower. I'd rather ride Thunder Canyon a few times and then go start the charcoal, change into dry clothes, and throw steaks on the grill. Do it all in 2 days. A good map to do all the rides in 2 or 3 days would be a better for me.

Just wanted to throw it out there. If you want to camp at CP. You better book now. I'm glad I did!

I'll put them in order of how I would do it.

1 Maverick
2 Millennium Force
3 Top Thrill Dragster
4 Pipe Scream
5 Magnum XL 200
6 Corckscrew
7 Iorn Dragon
8 Rougarou
9 Cedar Creek Mine Ride
10 Woodtock Express
11 Wilderness Run
12 Valravn
13 Raptor
14 Blue Streak
15 Wicked Twister
16 Gatekeeper
17 Gemini (right before closing)

Note: You need a child (under 54") to ride Wilderness Run

Getting to the park on a Thursday evening in May, after 4 pm ticket. Which coasters do the experts suggest starting at in this scenario? We will be coming from Breakers.

A Thursday late evening in May, when kids have school the next day...

Do whatever ones you want there will be little to no lines.

It was about three or four years ago my daughter and I were able to hit the lottery. The perfect day of zero crowd and no breakdowns while we were in any lines. We managed to pull off all coasters (minus the two kiddy ones) in 3 and a half hours, Granted it was before valravn but after gatekeeper. We realized about 4 rides in how easy it was going. We took it as a challenge and started taking a pic either in front of ride signs or the ride logos themselves (corckscrew) as the day went on. We eventually went back and took pics in front of the ones we missed. I then made up a poster on snapfish of the perfect day.. Probably could go for another decade and never have so much luck. Walking between rides was the only thing that ever slowed us down or it could have been quicker.

If we weren't all crazy we would go insane--Jimmy Buffett

It was kind of a cold misty day but by a stroke of luck nothing ever closed while we were waiting. A legendary day!

My daughter and I did it on closing day a while back - 2011? So there were in fact fewer coasters, but also back then closing day was pretty low-crowd, something that was not true last year even though it rained all morning.

I haven't attempted it since, but it was definitely a fun day!

We are planning our first trip this year for Memorial Day Til the Friday after again, the park is a literal ghost town on the Tuesday Wednesday that week. It's amazing there's more employees than customers.

That may be different this year with many area schools getting out in May instead of June.

I'll be there that Thursday & Friday for CoasterMania!
