The other thing is, the fast food ones aren't "always on". Kinda like a walkie talkie, you hit the button, power is applied and you can talk. So when you're not talking it saves power.
I heard about a guy last summer who tapped onto the BK frequency and would insult people as they pulled up to the drive through. It was pretty funny to read about....BK was a little less amused.
You can also get 2 or 3 rechargeable headsets, each one should be good for 6-8 hours, so you'll also always have a backup ready. I dunno, maybe its just me. Heck, I have wireless headphones at my desk at work because I listen to music non-stop through the day and I got tired of having to worry about the cable every time I turn my head. The only problem is when anyone in the area uses a cell phone, it interferes pretty badly, but I'm sure CP could get something thats better shielded than my 40 dollar Jensen headset.
Anyway, to those of you who are Pistons fans, it's time for a repeat. Party safe.
For those of you who are Spurs fans thanks for ordering our Cristal for us.
For those of you who don't care, well, we don't really care that you don't care.

Goodbye MrScott
John
That's almost as bad as the guys who stole the giant inflatable sponge-bobs from BK. Can you imagine hiding that thing?
For those of us that are Cleveland teams fans we need a few more glasses of Cristal, or a few more hard ones, whichever you prefer.
There's always next year. :(
Gotta love the wonders of RF. :) A band-pass filter would have fixed your problem, Chief Wahoo.
It'd probably be pretty easy to interfere with those mics. I assume they're around 930mhz.

Why are they packing the Magnum station? If they ever had to evacuate the station in an emergency situation, could you imagine the chaos that would ensue? People would definately panic, and get hurt trying to file back out the entrance
I agree absolutely. While I feel that some others thoughts on Magnum station packing may be valid - even though some of them don't make sense to me - I can't stand that station completely packed. I often though this station would be much better organized if they had queue separators for the rows that extended to the back of the station. At the least, and probably a bit more cost effective, they could paint lines on the floor that outline what row is what all the way to the back of the station. It would at least be semi-less chaotic trying to navigate the herd of people and figure out what row you are in line for.

Also, when packing the Magnum station it makes it hard to see what row you are wating for. And they are allowing the same on Top Thrill Dragster. They need to inforce what they do on Millennium Force and Wicked Twister. Pick an empty row. Even though people may not get the row they would like, it would help in an emergency. Also, when on Top Thrill Dragster, people crammed in, and people in the train had to come out. THen it got really bad. People were litterly on people. Also, Cedar Point has inforced a new polocy which many have talked about. No lose articals. They calim that the stoarage bins are for "Lose fitting shoes" which is rediculous, because we used them in past years for stuffed animals.
Also, I noticed on Top Thrill Dragster all there years the ride ops in the building thing, would be talking on the phone ignoring the ops on the platform. And it would take forever to get a train launched. I will admit theat TTD has been running really well this year. If it broke down it would only be for a few minutes. But when the train rolls back. Why does it take litteraly 10 minutes for it to come back to the "Pre-Stage" area? The breaks go up, then down, then up.
Also, I noticed on Sunday (June 19th) that after a a launch, the both sides of the breaks would go up, and then the left would go down. Before a launch, the left side would go up, and repeat. Odd...

I like how they keep MF's station so clear. I hate it when on WT when they force me into the middle of the train, because on this ride where you are sitting does make a distance, but I would rather not getting the perfect seat and have a somewhat empty station. I have never understood why they pack Magnum's station. It wouldn't take much at all to control the number of people in it.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Keith_2005's idea for enforcing the Millennium-esque station on Magnum or any other high capacity ride for that matter is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. If you start denying people the ability to pick where they want to sit for all rides you are going to start pissing them off even more.
And Keith, did you know that those phones all along the platform are solely used for talking to the other ride operators on the ride?...it's a closed circuit phone for that specific ride. If the employees were on the phones there was a reason for it. Employees can get in big trouble for discussing anything other than ride related material. Others are also located at ride entrances, many FreeWay mergepoints, maintenance sheds, and obviously in the control booth.

Rants:
Magnum: I personally don't mind the packing, because I can always get shorter lines near the front of the car due to people thinking those lines are full, just from the line from the front seat.
Wicked Twister: I hate it when I'm told to go to a middlemore seat while waiting for the back. One time I simply refused, and it ended there.
Millennium Force: Running two trains is pathetic.
Corkscrew: I really don't mind the seatbelts because I dont' really ride Corkscrew that much..
On a better note...
Mantis = Smoother?

Mantis = Loud.
Magnums station was poorly designed at the time, yet I agree that you get the shorter lines for 12 and 13 because people think they're already all full.
Millennium Force's capacity since the 'seatbelt policy' has been horrible, even worse than before.

I was very pleased to see how Magnum was operating last night. Crew was moving fast, they weren't using those stupid V cutout things, and the guy on spiels was really enjoying himself and making it fun. The spiel person stands at the front of the train where unload 1 has always stood. Load 1 was standing at the third row of the first car, so as long as unload 1 was checking both sides of seatbelts in row 1 and 2, they were all getting checked on the way out.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
That's good news! Did they still not have a crowd control person at the top of the stairs?

Nope, no crowd control, just the freeway person.

The seat belts on corkscrew are ridiculous, it slows the line down. I was there last week and the line for corkscrew was out of the station.
