Rides that might be removed in the next few years

I thought about Mine Ride's demise in the past (since it's the 2nd oldest running coaster at CP,1969 behind Blue Streak) and wish it would be more like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsyllyodcDo

Some extended track/rerouting/Maverick-like theming! and filled in land over toward MF island would be a quick off-season fix. Fill in the waterway to the right of CCMR and behind Camp Snoopy now that Paddlewheel Excursions isn't running any more and you'd have a better chance like something above. The CP/LE train tracks would just have to be shifted to the right toward Shoot the rapids (it's been done many times), and it would create alot more room. It's possible now that PWE is gone. Nobody says the dinos have to live on an "island" anyhow,ha! (don't get me started on that upcharge money driven attraction, it won't last).
Plan B: if you don't want to rework Mine ride, tear it down, and fill in above mentioned land for better ride and more usable real estate.

My family including my 6 year old loved that coaster at Disneyworld and only had to be 40" tall to go on it! She has yet to experience our Mine Ride at CP because of the 48" tall height requirement, which is sad to tell her every year she still isn't tall enough to go on it....and the overall ride experience on the Disney coaster was longer and more visually interesting.

Anyhow, myself, along with my other kid who is currently enjoying Iron Dragon, just got used to Wildcat and DT before they got ripped out a year later, and just started going on Corkscrew this year (as it was one of my 1st coasters) doesn't want to see it get taken out. You have to have something small like Corkscrew to get kids used to the larger multi-inversion rides such as Raptor, Maverick, later on in life, just like all of us started on the small stuff. BTW, we waited in a 45 minute line this past summer 2012 for Corkscrew so the popularity is still there.

On the Blue Streak midway, I think one of the main hindrances to the development of that area and tying it in with the Luminosity area is the Good Time Theatre IMO. This is prime real estate and I'm sorry to say I can see it going by the wayside in the future to free up that space. I've loved that theatre at much as anyone has but it's a shell of it's former self.
I would also like to see a tall (observation tower, or 2nd ferris wheel) on that bay side of the park to get a different aerial view.

I for one do enjoy the current Giant wheel location and hated the old one behind the train station, there wasn't much to look at back then. Sorry to ramble, but even though I'm a HUGE coaster enthusiast (can't wait for GK opening day!), I hope that Matt Ouimet also listens to what families want as there isn't much we can all ride on together anymore, at least not for a few more years or inches in height, whichever comes first.

I do think the Giant Wheel is positioned a little awkward. I think it should be much nicer on the other side of WT.

Yeah the selection of rides at CP for those in the 40" to 47" is ridiculous. My daughter is 43" and we are skipping the park for a while. She's outgrown the kiddie rides and can't ride anything else. Taking her there is a miserable experience because all I do is spend the entire time "sorry you can't ride that" and Jr Gemini already bores the crap out of her.

I'll give Disney credit though, there are good at taking a terrible coaster and making it a memorable ride. I still fantasize about a true "coaster park" by Disney.

I think turnpike cars and the older Arrow coasters. CP has got to liven up the Blue Streak Midway somehow. It's a ghost town and the Blue Streak is practically a walk-on these days.

I really feel Corkscrew is the next coaster on the chopping block with Mine Ride a close second (as it takes up a lot of real estate and by an unused lagoon). I'm curious about Iron Dragon...If Big Bad Wolf can go at BGW, hmmm.

Oh, and I agree, Kiddie Kingdom needs to go with an expansion to Planet Snoopy, and maybe a smaller adult coaster or another premium flat next to MaxAir.

I tend to agree with the idea that the Blue Streak midway might be the next to be drastically altered. It's now a weird dead-end, and it's so wide that it looks empty and deactivated even on the busier days. I'd hate to see Calypso go, but I suppose it could be relocated. In essence, elsewhere in the park, the spatial planning is a whole lot more apparent and effective, and this area stands out to me, the same way that the the Oceania midway stood out before the addition of WT and WS.

If done properly, such a change could open up a new pedestrian flow that could empty out somewhere around MF's entrance, mirroring the alternate pathway now offered by Oceania.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

S&S Power Sports purchased the spare parts and IP portions of Arrow when they went bankrupt. They are still making and supporting the old Arrow spare parts need. And will be for some time. There's a lot of them out there.

This is the kind of stuff that resulted in the lack of activity at TPOL; endless 'what is going next' threads with arguments based exclusively on cosmetic observations like 'it's old'.

Then don't partake in the conversation, and skip over to the next forum that actually has "activity" you enjoy talking about. The end.

As for things being outdated in Kiddie Kingdom, the constant err err err err every time a kid pushes the horn on Hot Rods is annoying and outdated. Sir Rub-a-Dubs boats get stuck mid course all of the time. The fact that Old Timers, Police Cars, Mustangs, Motorcycles, Hot Rods and Dune Buggies all do the same counterclockwise rotation on a transportable track under an outdated tent. The fact that Hot Rods and Police Cars go down mechanical because the grease from the wheels on these rides accumulate so much on the track and require cleaned every 4 hours is ridiculous. So yes, KK is slightly outdated, minus the idea of the KK Carousel and Krazy Kars, but those could always be put in a new location

Swingsets are pretty outdated, but my kids seem to enjoy them.

As outdated as Kiddy Kingdom is I'd rather see a revamp of the current area rather than a rip and replace. I think some of those rides could be relocated to other areas of the park where there is a major ride accompanied by a kiddie area. I think it would give the parent that is doing parent swap waiting for the kids the opportunity to do something with the kids without having to travel to a kiddie area to spend that time.

Removing Kiddie Kingdom because it is 'outdated' is rather laughable... how many 3-7 year olds have a concept of what is dated?

Kiddie Kingdom is stuck in the '80s. It needs freshen up badly especially with GateKeeper's location.

I wouldn't even justify it as "'80's"... maybe 70's.

I think Kiddy Kingdom needs an update, I would love to see some real theming added like there used to be in that location.

But I don't see them combining it with Planet Snoopy, the coliseum and arcade is in the way and doesn't really offer a good way to combine the two areas.

I actually think that the 2 kid's area's are too close together, I wouldn't mind seeing Kiddy Kingdom moved to the area by Blue Streak. That entire area could be utilized as a kid area and the fact that it only has one way in and out is actually a good thing. Though I may think about moving the entrance to Blue Streak somewhere so that you don't HAVE to walk through the kid area, that way people don't automatically think it's a kid coaster.

Imagine the Park in 100 years. All the rides we are talking about will have come and gone long ago. A natural disaster may take the entire park out. Cedar Fair may go bankrupt. No matter what happens anytime you change something in the park there will be people upset, people happy, or people who dont care either way.

Im all up for speculation, but thats all it is... Speculation.

I was shocked when the Wild Cat came out. I enjoyed that ride alot. I wasnt shocked when the Disaster Transport was taken out. I was on the fence about that ride. I never could have imagined they would remove the space spiral but it happened. So anything is possible.

I miss Pirate Ride.

Here is my opinion on some of the rides.

Calypso - I don't personally feel that Calypso is due to be removed anytime soon, but I do feel that it will be relocated within seven years or so. As above posters have said, the Blue Streak area is extremely dull nowadays (except for the Game Day Grille, there is some good food in there). We have no clue how the park will look in around five to seven years, but I see the Calypso perhaps being moved to the Dragster Midway, down the road a bit towards the Magnum enterance.

Turnpike Cars - When this revitalization of the Blue Streak area actually happens, I see the Turnpike Cars being removed from the park. This would still leave two drivable car rides in the park, so I wouldn't see it as a huge loss. I'd give the Turnpike Cars at least three more seasons of operation in the park.

Kiddy Kingdom - I don't think that KK will ever be removed from the park, but it is in an extreme need of a revitalization. The whole area is starting to look too 1970's and outdated, and with the front of the park getting a lot of attention in recent years (GateKeeper, MaXair, WindSeeker), I wouldn't be surprised to see KK get some work.

Giant Wheel - Another ride I doubt will be removed, but rather relocated. The problem is that I don't see a good place to currently place the ride, and there is no immediate need to actually relocate it right now. With WindSeeker in the area though, it is a given that there should be considerations down the road.

I'll give more thoughts a bit later, as I actually want people to read my full post and not skip over it because it is huge.

Everytime I go to the park and I'm walking down the midway, kiddy kingdom always sticks out and seems so dated. They could connect kk to planet snoopy by going through the old chaos area. I would really like to see the giant slide comeback with maybe a large play structure kind of like Kid Arthur's Court. Then add a unique family coaster http://rcdb.com/9607.htm?p=34865 and add scenery and fill in extra space with the existing rides at kiddy kingdom.

When Kiddy Kingdom does get updated, Sir-Rub-a-Dub Tubs HAS to go. Talk about an unpopular eyesore.

I don't think it should merge with Planet Snoopy, because I still like the individual KK area, and I'd feel like they'd try to involve the huge building with it as well.

^ Almost forgot about Sir-Rub-a-Dub Tubs. I have seen better looking water rides at county fairs.

As far as kids rides, I'd love to see a vekoma inverted family coaster. The one at kings island is amazingly fun... even as an adult.

^Yeah those are fun but with one in the same state and an inverted coaster right across the midway they could be more unique. They could also do a spinning coaster like Knotts did, or even something like a family launching coaster. I think Vekoma has a prototype for a spinning coaster.

Please. NO VEKOMA! I would like to see B&M try building a junior coaster. So the little guys don't get crap that ages horrendously. Woodstock Express is starting to break down and it's only 14. Bottom line is, Intamin or B&M.

The god of speculation

Maybe an zierer coaster with the vertical drop http://rcdb.com/10214.htm?p=37279. I dont think B&M makes family rides. Vekoma has been better in recent years.
