Rides open until the line is empty?

Heading to The Point this weekend and was wondering if they still wait until closing time to shut off the line on Dragster and Millie, and then let everyone in line before closing time ride the ride?

Thanks!

The queue line is open until the park closes, after that, the guests are filtered through as they normally would be**

**special note: If you want to ride in the first or last row (those with longer lines than others), your spot is not garaunteed (you will get to ride, just where they tell you to ride though). All seats are filled to help filter out guests quicker than running 3 trains with just the front seats filled. *** Edited 8/12/2005 4:36:05 AM UTC by Kyle Dersch***

You'll still get to ride, but you may not get to ride in your chosen spot.

Lines for most rides at Cedar Point close roughly 7 minutes past closing. I don't believe that's official park policy, though, so don't count on it happening all the time.

Actually I do think that the 7 min. past closing is official park policy for the major coasters. That is one of the great things about CP.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It's 8 minutes... and that's just a 'comfort zone' for the variance in everyone's watches. Don't expect to head to a coaster when your watch says 8 minutes after, and the ride's clock says 10 minutes after, and expect to ride with the excuse "But you're supposed to be open until 8 minutes after, and my watch says it's that time now!" It just doesn't work that way. ;)

I always thought that if a ride line was longer than an hour they close the ride at 10 or 9 depending on when the park closes.

Six Flags stay open an hour after close.

^^ I know that was PKI's policy in the past, however I didn't get a chance to go this year so I don't know if that rule was in effect again this year. But that is not the rule that CP uses, they let the guests pile in regardless of the line (But I have heard that Ops. say that the wait time is longer than it actually is, trying to get out as soon as possible). <<Don't flame me...that's just what I've heard.

woohoo - stirring up the controversy with this one.

Actually, you're just an idiot.

I've never seen a line at Cedar Point close before closing. That's not to say it's never happened, but I've never seen it.

Even with three hour lines for Millennium Force I've seen the line still open past park closing.

Yea last year it was like 10 minutes before closing and i wanted to go on Mantis so we went and it said 45 minute wait. Sowe decided to wait and we walked right onto the train.

I asked the TTD guy if it was really an hour around closing, and he covered by saying someone messed with the sign.

Thirty years ago, the park closed at 10:00 PM, period. By that time the last riders had gotten off and the lights went dark on the spectaculars. By looking at the que we could tell when to close the trunstiles. It may have been as early as 9:30, but usually between 9:40-9:45. To be open after 10:00 would warrant a visit from the night zone supervisor, as it was frowned upon by management.

yep. to be accurate, its actually 11:08pm :D
lol.

we have to secure the rides after they close.

With the all the "cost cutting measures that don't impact guest experiences", I wonder if this will be the next item to be axed.

I mean, applying the lastest CP managerial logic, after a day waiting in lines for rides running at well under capacity, and then not being able to find food, the last thing any guest is going to want is to catch one last memorable ride. Throwing a bunch of guests out of a line as the clock strikes "closing time" could be the new running of the bulls.

;)
