Rides of the Past

The Jumbo Jet is not actually in Russia. It is in Mexico City as of a book printed in late 1999.

A few more to add --

One ride on the double ferris wheel (at the front gate) before we REALLY left :-) (we usually had to bug mom & dad for several minutes before they'd give in for "just one more ride"...)

Watching the taffy machine on the midway stretching & pulling taffy.

Riding on the big paddle boat (when the station was about where the Iron Dragon queue is now)

Boy, I wish we had taken more movies/pictures... Does anyone know if there are any good movies out there that show the park from 20+ years ago? That would bring back LOTS of great memories I'm sure...

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millenium Force is sinking... *** This post was edited by Millenium_Force_is_sinking_too on 6/27/2001. ***
My first visit was in '93. I remember the Mill Race and Pirate Ride. I never did like the Pirate Ride really, maybe it was becuse for some reason I have and I think always will be afraid of Animatronics. There's just something about them, lol.

I remember the Calypso positioned by the Silver Dollar, and walking into the Silver Dollar and seeing Mill Race. I got Chicken Fingers, it was lunch, and we sat next to a window and I watched the people in the logs go by with smiles on there face.

I rode the Mill Race, but I only remember a few things about it. I know that there was a little shack you went through, then the flume went back and forth. That's about it other than I used to hate it when the water would fly up and down my back. Boy I wish they would have relocated it instead of tearing it down.
Well, I was there on Monday, and in addition to all the great stuff people have mentioned so far, I guess we can add "Real Cotton Candy" to the list of dearly departed Cedar Point friends. That one made me really mad - as long as I can remember, I've eaten an entire bag of cotton candy on the car ride back to Toledo. No more...

I went through that early this year :) They actually do still spin cotton candy and have it available at a few different locations.

I remember going to CP in 1975 for the first time. I had never heard of the place. My mom and her new husband took our new step-sisters with us. They had been there before. I was utterly speechless (as I was 9). Through the whole winter at school I would dream of going to CP the following summer. Sometimes not every summer so it was always even MORE exciting.

The first time we went I fondly remember the Funhouse with the room of mirros, the scary area where you would step on a cushion and air would shoot up and and electrocution sound would emit, the room with the slanted floor and twisted maze, the awesome spiral slides at the end and did anyone notice that the whole outside of the Funhouse was shaped like a house upsidedown?

I remeber riding the Schwabinchen and remember my brother and I making fun of the name.

I remember being amazed at how tall the Ferris Wheel was.

I faintly remember the Earthquake ride. Can someone give a better description of it so it will jog my memory?

I remember riding the water water and getting soaked and my stepdad was wearing a new belt and it leaked on his white shirt.

I remember riding the Matterhorn with my sister and thinking that was the coolest ride on Earth.

But, my best memory of that first trip was not being able to ride the Jumbo Jet. My new stepdad and his daughter could ride it but I couldn't. I was too short. I'm now 6 foot 5. I cried like a baby. So my mom bought me cotton candy to make me feel better. What an awesome mom.
