It does show what rides are down currently when in park but doesn’t indicate for how long.
Caution for those on IOS. The app requires location services to be set to “always” for ride times and drains my battery at a very rapid rate, even if I force close the app. Thus I have to toggle that in settings before and after each use. I have heard the Android app does much better with putting the GPS in a low power state.
Thanks for the heads up about the app hogging the battery. I just went into location for my Samsung and a few apps say battery usage low but the Cedar Point app says high usage and I am not doing anything with the app. I may have to put the app to sleep or uninstall it. I really do not like it when an app overuses system resources unnecessarily. I had to uninstall Gas Buddy.
Years ago,the CP website at the bottom had a category 'today in the park' that indicated what rides would not be in operation that day. I would look at that to decide if I was going.
Also,at the previous ticket booths(prior to Gatekeeper),there would be signage indicating what won't be operating.

Exactly, Cedar Point doesn’t want you to decide not to go because a particular ride is down. They’d rather you be oblivious and disappointed. Chances are you drove quite a ways to get there and you’ll probably just suck it up and enter the park anyway. But to be fair, it’s rare for a ride to be down for the entirety of a day, and when it is, its unexpected. However, if it’s known in advance (before the park opens for the day) there’s really no excuse to not make it known on the website.

This site seems to reflect the same information as the app does, won't chew up battery and doesn't require you to be in the park:
https://queue-times.com/parks/50/queue_times
I'm planning to go next week and have been playing with the app (faking location so it thinks I'm there). It can be hit or miss as to whether it updates info or not. It seems to only update when I kill the app and reopen it. The queue-times site seems to work better, though it's missing some of the frills (distance from you to any ride etc, but you can just use the app for that).
That said - from what I can tell, they haven't updated the status for GateKeeper or Iron Dragon since last October, hence why they both have been showing "closed" when in fact they have been running. Unfortunately the app/status info is only as good as the people providing the data!
^^Agreed.. on opening weekend the app was showing many rides as "No wait" even though they weren't operating, and also showed Millennium Force with no wait, even though it had a solid hour-long wait. I'm hoping it gets to be more accurate as the season goes along. It did at least get the SV wait correct, posting a 4-hour wait. Haha.

I don't know exactly who updates the ride wait times or if the ride is closed. But, whenever a ride goes down for mechanical reasons or weather, whoever is in charge of the ride is responsible for contacting the operations communication center to let them know the ride is currently shut down. Also, periodically throughout the day, leadership is responsible for contacting the operations comm center to give them the wait time if there is a noticeable fluctuation from the previous hour. Perhaps this just isn't being called in as much as it should be.
