What does CP do with there smaller rides in the winter? Like Camp Snoopy, Scrambler, witches wheel,do they take them apart as much as possible or do they just put like a shrink wrap around them to keep them protected as much as possible from the elements? Also how long does it take for CP to have the park ready for opening day?
I would imagine they do a dismantle, check for wear/tear on parts and then re-assemble. I don't know for sure, but it would make sense that they remove cars, check all the bolts/washers/nuts/bearings etc. and then just put it back together. The elements wouldn't be a problem, since they sit outside anyway during the summer.
As for how long it takes the park to get ready, a month, maybe 2. Just look for the webcam threads to start up this spring. People will post when they notice the slightest change in a webcam picture so you can have a minute-by-minute, play-by-play of what's going on on the webcams.

Oh boy, can't wait for the play by play. OMG!! That Trash can wasn't there before!!!! NEW 500 FOOT COASTER FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!
/end sarcasm
Getting the park ready for opening day pretty much starts as soon as they close on closing day. I know that coaster trains start making their way back to their tracks in late March/early April (very cool to be in the park then) and testing begins pretty soon afterwards. Some flat rides start testing around that time as well.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I know for a fact that they do take some of the smaller rides apart. Matterhorn was being dismantled the day after the park closed. I even have pictures of it. Its pretty awesome to see them taking a ride you work on apart but a little sad at the same time.
