Rides during rain

I am planning on taking some friends from out of the country to Cedar Point on Saturday. If it is raining, does CP shut all the main rides down?
A lot of the rides can still operate in the rain. All the circulars will be in operation. Power Tower, MF, WT, Mean Streak, Raptor (?), Mantis (?), Corkscrew, Disaster. Most of them can operate. I know that Demon Drop, Gemini, and Snake River Falls stop when it rains. Lightening will stop all the rides, reguardless of size. Hope that helps.

Why does SRF stop when it rains?

Same reason Gemini goes down for rain, I'm assuming. Our safety system doesn't handle rain well, the photo eyes are blocked by rain and it thinks there's a train (or boat in this case) in the way.

I used to work on White Water Landing and the slightest drop of rain shut us down for the same reason. Thats why I was wondering if the big rollercoasters are so sensitive, or don't care about the rain - just lightning.

So I'm assuming that the sensors on SRF are optical like those on Gemini (Both Arrow rides, so it makes sense)?

Magnum has the same optical sensors that Gemini has, but doesn't seem to have the rain problem. Does Magnum just get lucky like that?

Magnum's optics are 11 years newer than Gemini's. Technology changes a lot during that much time. The funny thing is that Wildcat and Corkscrew actually added new optics last year. I guess technology has really changed to go what I would call backwards in that regard.

I know for sure White Water Landing has the exact same old fashioned photo eyes that Gemini has, and I think Snake River Falls has them too. Magnum's are completely different from Gemini's and they are capable of functioning while in rain.

Mantis (and a lot of other newer coasters) are actually more fun in the rain. You will go so much faster and for those of you that remember before the 1st hill trim was added), it is the best ride after a rain/lightning storm. The trim brake hardly catches the car. Definitely a fast ride!

Dont all the flats stay open during the rain and lightning, I know that lightning stops all coasters, but I remember all the flats still running.
Snake River Falls got new photo eyes last year I believe. As far as I know, they can run in the rain but if it really starts to pour, they start getting high water alarms so they probably shut down for that reason. Mean Streak will stay open through a light rain but as soon as it gets heavy we go down because of our photo eyes. Mine Ride will stay open through pretty much anything except lightning because of its lack of photo eyes. It's hard to tell what will be open and what will be closed. It all depends on the intensity of the storm.
