Rides Down time?

I know I rather have them havedowntime to make sure the coasters are running safe, then for someone to get hurt! I know when I get on a coaster, I don't want to worry if the ride is going to break down or hurt me! I just want to focus on having fun!!!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

My best advice for you is if the ride does go down, do not leave the queue right away. In most cases it is back up and running sooner than later. Especially if you see them testing the trains.

Yeah I'd have to agree that B&M's don't seem to have much down time, at least the ones I've ridden. It seems like the only time they do go down is for weather, or high winds. Millennium Force, and Griffon are by far the smoothest one's I've been on, there are others but those two really stand out in my mind.

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

In response to coolkid's post, S&S is still around. They are currently building a 135 MPH coaster in Germany, just about ready to open their second El Loco coaster, and are opening their first "Free Fly" coaster in Sweden.

As far as downtime goes at Cedar Point, I've never noticed too much of a problem with Maverick. Although they rarely get the timing down right like it's supposed to be (trains crossing at valley of first hill and first twist and dive), I hardly notice any downtime related to technical or mechanical issues. The only thing I've noticed slowing down the ride is Cedar Point's Nazi outlook on allowing objects on the rides (I've seen a young girl have to take off a walking cast on maXair), and they often release the restraints to have riders remove the items since employees won't dare touch anything, even though Kings Island crews offer to take your bags.

^ I ment to say the Arrow part of it doesn't exsist anymore. S&S power bought Arrow back in 2002. The only thing arrow puts out are the 4th dimmenison coasters. It used to be S&S Arrow and now it is S&S Worldwide. Sorry for the confusion jloash!

PB webmaster Jeff has claimed before that Intamin's are overly-designed (while ironically B&M's are overly-engineered!!)

More to the point, Intamin rides seem to have far more complexity in their control systems in almost every way. More overlapping blocks, more moving parts, more prox switches, etc. It's like the mechanical end of it is designed without any consideration for what the control system will require. I don't think they iterate over their designs enough to find ways to reduce complexity.

I was just looking at the Registercam it looks like they are working on the back spike of Wicked Twister again.

^^Uh-oh!! Not good for FLGirl!! Well, hopefully she at least got Dragster in and maybe there's hope for WT tomorrow??

I know during some of my first CP visits in 02 and 03 WT didn't run much. Also, granted I go to CP too much, there's many times when I skip WT altogether...

Yeah I saw them working on WT, I doubt it will be open today but maybe by Thursday. It won't ruin my trip if it isn't open, but it would be cool. Crazy Intamin coasters....

^^So hey, will you post a TR of your CP visits?? My fingers are crossed for you and WT! Ride in the front seat or 8-2 (2nd to last row on right) which at the highest point you'll have an unobstructed view straight down!

^^ yes, I definitely plan on posting a trip report. I have a lot of observations to make. :) As for WT, it actually opened for the last couple hours last night and we got a ride in. It's really fun, we loved it. We were too scared to ride too close to the front though, maybe next time!

Millennium Force at sunset is a beautiful sight.

Ride in the back, second to last row. You get a great view on the back spike.
