Rides closed during Summer Spectacular?

On the map (2000) that you get when at CP there is one page that talks about Halloweekends and the Summer Spectacular. 

For the Summer Spectacular it says that the Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Dodgems 2, CP& LE Railroad, and finally Space Spiral.

Now I understand why the first four are closed, but why is the Space Spiral?

There's the possibility of the lasers hitting the Space Spiral, and it wouldn't be all that good for some guest to get an eyeful of more than a great show! It's another example of Cedar Point's dedication to safety -- even the slightest chance, they make sure it's taken care of.

Couldn't the lasers just as easily hit Power Tower too?????

I love that large wooden structure!

They don't point toward Power Tower, just toward the front of the park (think of how the screen is oriented). I think they have one that specifically lines up on the Space Spiral, to make sure that all the lasers are aligned, but I'm not really sure.

Speaking of which, sitting and watching the SS (great show BTW) made me wonder how it would look on the PT.  Any comments/accounts of this?
Wonder how difficult it would be to time it so you could be in the air during a good portion of SS (pyro's in the air, etc.)

Two years ago I rode Power Tower during the SS. I was on the Turbo Drop side. When you get to the top of the tower you get so into the show you actully almost forget you are on the ride. It makes the ride much more terrifying once you start to drop.
It is also very cool when fireworks go off and the smoke engulfs the tower.

What really looks good to me is a ride on Mantis when the laser show is going, especially if you can time it to be on the train when the fireworks go off. I was right at the top of the lift, going around the first turn, a couple of times when the fireworks launced, and it is just a spectacular sight!

That's what I kind of thought, maybe a laser or something.  Man those are some powerful lasers to be able to hit the Space Spiral.

Ha!  I distinctly rember the fireworks being launched when i was near the apex of the first loop!  Fireworks are cool, but upsidedown fireworks are even better.  Maybe i should stand on my head next 4th of July....
