Rides and attractions from the "old" Cedar Point.

We probably all would have liked to ride the Cyclone but what are some other the other rides and attractions you would like to be able to experience.

I would like to see Noah's Ark and compare it with Kennywood's. I 've always like the Tumble bug and definately would have rode it as well as the caterpillar. The eden Musee looks to be fascinating but I don't know about the Bouquet of Life and the freak shows.

Another thing would be neat to see is the beach on a sunny summer day back in the heyday. I understand it got very crowded.

I guess it's not really from the "old" days, but it's before my time. The Jumbo Jet looked like so much fun... I would have loved to ride that.

Fortunately I've been on both the Nestea Plunge and Jumbo Jet.

Rides I miss are the Rotor and Fun House.

I'd have liked to have ridden the wooden wild mouse (especially since I haven't been on one yet after being scared of coasters until the late 1960's).

I really miss Shoot-the-Rapids and the Frontier Lift (aka The Buckets). I remember smashing six people in those boats, and the double splash hill. It always seemed so much better than the Nestea Plunge. At that time Frontiertown was like a seperate park, only accessable via the Train, the Buckets, or a really long walk down the Frontier Trail that seemed to take an hour. These are my childhood memories.

Yeah I miss the Jumbo Jet too. I did get to relive it when I went to Coney Island. Also loved the Fun House and Sky Slide. Bayern Curve. And of Earthquake and Pirate Rides. The Rotor was the bomb in my Childhood.

I would have loved to ride the Cyclone. Also the Earthquake and the Rotor.

The Rotor is just like the Starship 2000 seen at pretty much every carnival, right?

I'd love to ride the Scamper (wooden wild mouse), and I really miss the Frontier Lift, Earthquake, Pirate Ride, Upsidedown Funhouse and Shoot-the-Rapids.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Jumbo Jet, Frontier Lift and Disaster Transport when it was Avalanche Run.

I miss the pirate ride, avalanche run. I wish I could have rode Earthquake (formerly in the building that the Berenstein bears shop was) and the snoopy boutique is now in. And I wish I could have rode the double ferris wheel. A car fell off of that ride during a very bad wind/thunderstorm. Fortunatly the ride was not in operation when it faulted.

Sounds like you guys hit most of the ones I remember except Jungle Larry's. I used to love going through there at night when all the animals that had slept the day away were waking up.

And noone's mentioned the character signs. Those added that nostalgic feel to the park. I'll always remember Magnum as "The StormTrooper Ride".

I always liked to take a stroll through Jungle Larry's and the Aquarium. I never sat down to watch one of Larry's shows because I always seemed to miss the starting time, but it was always nice to walk through that shaded trail. It's amazing how close that was to Corkscrew and yet it didn't feel like you were in the park at all.

Jugga: Testify! Larry's was an awesome little escape to relax and cool off after lunch or after waiting in line, etc. Such a shame that its gone...

You're right, a familiar sound I can remember while in Jungle Larry's, is the typical "Arrow Coaster" loud sound of a Corkscrew train coming off the chain lift down the first hill every few minutes, I'm sure the animals loved that! :)

I vaguely remember the Scamper, the wooden wild mouse, and it's astounding how there are so few pictures of it. The first time I can remember being at the park was 1976, and I could swear it was there that year. I think it was roughly where the Matterhorn and Scramble are now.

What year did the Tiki Twirl open? That was the old Calypso-type ride (if not a Calypso with a different theming package) that sat on the current Matterhorn site. Was the Scamper removed for this expansion, possibly part of the "Million Dollar Midway"?

I thought Scamper was taken out and replaced by the corkscrews for Corkscrew?

I trully miss the Pirate Ride, the mini golf and Sky Slides. Amazing how much has been taken out during the 90's. I'm sure its been the same for each decade, but I wasn't around then :)

To answer my own questions, our very own history section answers the question about the Scamper...
