Riders with Exceptional Size

I have been hearing a lot of people stating that the riders like MF, TTD, and maverick are hard to get into if you are bigger. I rode MF and TTD for the last few years and I have had no problems, I have lost weight since last year about 40 pounds and I am just afraid that when I come up at the end of July I won't be able to ride, and since I am bringing my daughter this would be devastating. Could anyone give me a general idea of the measurements to ride?

If you've ridden in the past couple of years and you've lost 40 pounds, you have NOTHING to worry about. Maverick is probably the most accommodating ride from what I've heard.

Thanks! I hope I have nothing to worry about. I was just worried because I read they have shortened the belts on MF and TTD.

I think it really depends on the seat and the train, because I've heard (and seen) that some of them vary.

I didn't hear that they shortened any belts. I've heard that they replaced some and they may still be a little stiff, but I haven't heard that any of them are shorter.

If you ask me, I think the whole TTD and MF setup sucks. I don't think it's fair that ride hosts have to actually turn people away at times. I've heard they don't even like turning people away. Anyway, I think it was dumb on Intamin's part to design such a lap restraint system, especially in this day and age where people are thicker. I personally know a few people who won't even attend CP because they cannot fit on these rides by CP's standards.

People's body types vary. I have long legs and it's difficult for me to buckle the belt because there is no way for me to extend my legs so they can rest as flat as possible on the seat. This brings my thighs higher and it's sometimes a struggle for me, especially when I can't even see what I am buckling because of my chest.

Maverick's seat has plenty of room.

That is good to hear. I will be up there the end of July so I guess I will see then. I have went down two to three sizes so I don't think I will have a problem I just got a little scared when I read some of the posts.

You shouldn't have a problem at all. And they haven't shortened the belts any more this year. MF belts are actually a little longer. I had trouble on MF last year, and haven't had any trouble at all this year. I've probably ridden MF more this year, than I did the last couple of years combined.

Anyway, have fun and enjoy all the rides!

Being able to fit on Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force has nothing to do with how much you weigh. It has everything to do with where you carry your weight; especially on Millennium. Women tend to have more problems because they tend to carry more of their weight in their thighs and lower abdomen, while men tend to carry it higher, in say, their lower chest or upper stomach region. It should also be noted that Top Thrill Dragster has deeper seats and slightly longer belts than Millennium.

Try wearing looser fitting pants/shorts (pajama, sweat pants, jogging pants) if your worried about your belly/hip area, this will give you a little bit of room to navigate the belt since you can kind of squish the belt below your tummy. It has worked for me since I am borderline and I have never been denied a ride. Just so you know you will be required to pull 1/2" of slack on MF and TTD as part of intamins "safety" requirements.

Maverick should not be an issue, Wicked Twister is much more confining than Maverick, but if you fit on MF you will fit on anything.

^Why would you wear pajama pants to CP? Besides for fitting on rides. Just wondering.

Let's Get Weird.

Why would people wear a lot of things they do at Cedar Point?

I absolutely agree on the "where you carry your weight" part. But honestly I had more of a struggle on TTD. When I was there last Summer I had lost over 20 pounds from over the previous 10 months. And trust me I was a lot lighter than quite a number of large guys I saw riding.

My legs and thighs are huge and very strong for a guy and I have big hip bones.
I barely had enough belt left on Millennium and TTD was a struggle for the host to get the lap bar cranked down more to their acceptable level. I doubt I'll have much trouble this summer though -- I've lost over 40 more pounds (around 45 lbs) since last summer and my legs are way more toned like a football linebacker now.

^^ - I've never seen the problem at Cedar Point (or any amusement park) being people wearing a lot. Its usually the lack of a lot that causes issues.

FYI, My sister was able to ride TTD, and MF, but not Maverick. My cousin was able to ride TTD and Maverick, but not MF. Obviously there are a lot of variables in body size, but I think the effort of the operators to try one more time, either on the test seat or the ride may be a factor.

^ Wow. That's really surprising to see someone able to get on MF and TTD but not Maverick. Can she ride Raptor or Wicked Twister?

MF and TTD no problem - Maverick however I need a little knudge - The girls on top are bigger and cause a bit of an issue for me on pretty much any over the shoulder ride.

It seems like females have a harder time on seatbelt/lapbar rides because they tend to carry wait in the hip/thiegh area and men have more problems on shoulder restaints because they carry it more in the chest and gut.
