I hate when people take their huge phones and phablets on rides. They don't seem to think about safety. A phone or phablet hitting someone at roller coaster speeds can seriously hurt someone, possibly even kill them if it hits them right. Google Glass is just stupid, I think.

2 reasons, mostly

1. Because it's not allowed.

2. To preserve history when the amusement park itself refuses to do so.

Would it have killed Cedar Point to have taken POV video of, let's say, the Pirate Ride, or the Earthquake Ride, or the entire original Disaster Transport experience with the pre-ride show included? How about a POV of the Wildcat, or the Wild Mouse, or the Jumbo Jets? How about a complete walk through of the various Fun Houses?, the original Eden Musee? Or several dozen other rides and attractions that deserved to be documented, but weren't. All it would have taken was a cheap video camera or a common super-8 movie camera, and a bit of foresight.

Was that idea ever thought of back when those rides existed? It has nothing to do with what might "kill" Cedar Point to provide you these videos. Truthfully, the park doesn't owe us a damn thing when it comes to POVs of current rides, let alone not having the technology we have now back when those rides were still available to the public

Who said anything about the park owing us anything? It's not a matter of owing, it's a matter of coolness and as mentioned, foresight (or lack thereof).

You aren't allowed to take pictures while on the Sky Ride or Giant Wheel? I have gotten on those rides several times last year with my DSLR in hand and ready to take pictures. I was never told to put it away before.

Is it new this year that you can not take pictures while on those rides, or has it always been like that?

I think technically you can only take pics on the train but I will admit I take them on Sky Ride and Giant Wheel all the time. I always keep the camera inside the cabin, though, so if I did drop it nobody would get bonked in the head. I don't see the harm in taking pics from those 2 rides unless you hang the camera out of the cabin.

I really don't mind if I'm on closed-circuit camera at the bar, or the park, or Best Buy or whatever because I know the intended use of that footage. Some random dude with a camera in his glasses, filming me without me knowing it? Who knows where that'll wind up.
