Ride Photos

Here's a thought, do you think they would think about putting a ride cam on the ride? This would be a cool twist to this cool ride that they are putting in.

And if you think they would put one in, where would be the best place for one?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! =)

Does anybody know if Xcelerator has on-ride photos? I'm sure Cedar Point will probably put them on this thing. I'd like to see them somewhere during the launch.
Yes, Xcelerator has on-ride photos. It's located at the bottom of the top hat, if I'm correct...

Yeah that is where it is, and in my opinion it is one of the ugliest buildings in the park.

The photos should be taken in the twist after the tophat after you've been twisted back towards the tower. How about if they had individual cams in the cars pointed at each rider? The photos could be downloaded at a stopping point after the brakes or they could be transmitted by radio.
I think the photo should be taken near the top of the up side.

That way you can see all the way to the ground in the photo :)

"Sit down right, hold on tight, and enjoy your flight on Shivering Timbers!!"

That sounds like a sweet idea Rider. I also like the idea of the camera on the drop. Or they could even have both. I always thought it would be a cool idea to have a camera on the drop.
I like Rider's idea myself but would it be even more interesting if they put not one but two ride photo camera setups on this ride...one possibly going up the first part of the top hat and then on the way down, if in fact it is going to be a top hat?

That idea would be really cool but also give guests selection as to which photo they would like to purchase (most people I think would buy both of them anyway)...

Play around with that idea for a while. Jeff, if you think they would be putting ride photos on the ride, where would put them? =)

I think this was already answered in a Blade article that ran quite a while back, but I'm too lazy to find the link. Someone from the park said they will have a chance to make extra income from the new ride in the form of merchandise and on-ride pictures.

The idea of having cameras on board the ride is one that I have been thinking would happen someday soon. It even seems like somebody will install a system on a coaster where an on-board camera actually records you and your riding partner throughout the entire ride. After the ride, you could purchase a CD with your own movie of the ride. It might even be presented in a split screen format with your facial expressions on one screen and the view from the front of the train (facing forward) on the other side of the screen.

I am sure that something like this will be coming in the future. Maybe #16 will be the first to employ it!!

Rider I like your idea best so far

But the idea of owning a CD of yourself rideing the ride is just to KOOL to pass up.

I'll take 2 copys please cha-ching $$$

P.S. I am lucky to have a video of yours truly riding the Mantis on media day . I took it back to the station and edited in some exterior shots of Mantis so it has some pics of the elements of the ride . It's one of the favorite videos that I've made I sure looked goofy getting banged around by that horse coller:)

I'm not an old fogey, I'm just an old coaster rider..

I always thought a webcam on the front of a train would be cool. Think of the random shots you'd get...sometimes on the circuit, sometimes in the station, sometimes cresting hills. That would be quality :)
Until some loser flicks off the webcam and they're taken down.

*It's the Internet, don't take it so seriously. Don't be a moron and we'll get along fine.

I think a ride photo just before you enter the station after the brakes will capture the smiles and looks on peoples faces of pure awe.

But why capture smiles when you can caputure terror :)

i think thay should pup a high res web cam on the top of the top hat. this would give a great veiw of the park as it is the tallest point & the cam should be pointed at the passing train so we could watch the fear as the train passes.
That is a great idea MMM. Maybe the Discovery Channel or TLC will put it on their sites also. Call is the worlds tallest scream cam. (until they put one on top of that S&S tower in vegas ).
I think they should put it right after you launch. It would really capture the moment of how scared you were.
