Reverse free-fall, then Tophat?

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the idea of maybe some kind of double launch on the new coaster. I'm not sure if it's possible to launch a coaster from the same spot at two different speeds, but what if the coaster was two rides in one? The first launch would shoot you to about 90 mph or so and reach about 350-400 feet and then reverse free-fall you back down like in S:TE. Then the second launch would shoot you at around 110-120 mph and clear you over the tophat.

Whether L-TH-B or not, this would be a great way to increase the total time of the ride and give u an extra feeling of zero gravity after the first launch, as does S:TE. You would also be able to drop down backwords and then foward from a height of 350 feet or so.

Think about it, two rides in one. Launch, zero gravity at 350-400 ft., reverse free-fall, second launch, airtime at 420 feet over tophat, drop face first down 400 ft. (then possibly other elements)

That'd be one hell of a ride, not to mention a nice middle finger to Six Flags. Let me know what you guys think. It's just an idea. Or maybe i'm out of my mind.

Why does Cedar Point need to give the middle finger to Six Flags with a double launch? Isn't 400+ feet good enough? ;)
There are several reasons why this can't happen.

1. The ride can't be launched while in motion unless LIM's are used. This ride won't have LIM's

2. brakes automatically pop up behind the train as it launches. So if there is a misfire, it can stop without going into the station. The problem is that it takes forever for the train to get back to the station

3. If they had to take the time to launch it twice, the capacity and throughput of this ride would be horrendous. Capacity is one of, if not the most important, aspect that CP looks at before installing a new ride.

It just won't happen.

There. Theory done.

Hey what if it launched you forward through the ride, then once you get to the bottom it shot you back up the hill backwards and back into the station. I know this is probably impossible, but it would be kinda cool, what do you think?
I'll have to believe Jeff b/c according to that Plain Dealer article, Jeff knows exactly what this ride will be (but won't tell anyone out of loyalty to CP).
Hm, getting launched backwards. Tell me, are you the one who's going to pay for all these people that are going to get whiplash?
Whiplash? They could just put pads in front of your face too! ;)

hehehe yeah, something like that!
what if one of the people had a reeeeaaalllllllyyy runny nose and at the instantaneous moment of launch it scared the snot on to that pad. now wouldnt that just suck. i mean talk about ruining ur day
what is this theory about that you cannot launch a coaster backwards? Who came up with this idea? There is *no* reason that a train can NOT be launched backwards. Perhaps the acceleration rate has to be lower, but there is no reason that a body cannot be accellerated backwards safely.

Dont believe me? Fly on a Southwest 727 someday....

Yes it would be POSSIBLE, I mean the human body does have muscles to hold the head up. But CP couldn't rely on the GP to actually USE them. CP really has to treat the GP like babies when it comes to these rides because you never know what someone would try to pull (pun not intended, just sorta happened). So it would either have to take off pretty slow or strap your head in. OTOH Wildcat damn near takes your head off at the end.
