Restaurants on CP Resort $$$

I have decided to book a room at the Hotel Breakers for a 5-day getaway at Cedar Point in May. I would like to know more about the various restaurants around the resort. I have already eaten to Famous Dave's. Now, what about TGI Friday, Dominics, Coffee Shop, Breakwater Café? What are your favorite? Do the prices for a meal are similar to Famous Dave's?

Fridays is like every other Fridays. I usually get a few gift cards throughout the year at my Local Fridays, that way I have a "free" meal when I get to the Point for vacation. Granted it's not free, but at least it's pre-paid. The best surprise I have found is Bay Harbor! We had dinner there last year, two of us had two cocktails each, salad, dinner, and coffee for under $100! The food and service were both great! Havent been to the others yet, so cant help you there.

I also have an additional question. Can we eat at some of these restaurants later than the park closing hour? For instance, when the park closes at 8:00pm and if I go to the Millennium for the last ride, will I have time to go to one of these places for a dinner?

Bay Harbor is upscale and the most expensive place on point to eat. So unless you want to spend the money, you ought not eat there. Besides, the few times I ate there, I wasn’t impressed by the food. I expected more for the money. In my opinion, it’s nothing special. I have been to better. But maybe it was just a bad day for food?

Not sure of the exact hours, but I have never had a problem getting something to eat after the park closes. Two years ago we got hit with a bad storm in the MF area, we had to walk in the rain all the way back to Lighthouse Point after park closing, take two showers, get dressed, and then a short drive over to Fridays. It was open when we got there, and we were not rushed at all. Same with Bay Harbor. We stayed till park closing, took showers, got dressed, drove over, and they were still open. Are you getting a package deal? If so you will be given a card that will get you discounts on some of the restaurants.

Went to bay harbor for the first time the other day--and it was really good(highly suggest the stuffed chicken) although it is "elegant, waterfront dining" so it is more pricey. the hotel restaurants are open one hour after the park closes so as long as you are back by then.......although sometimes fridays will stay open as long as they have good business coming in. breakwater and dominics are both very good places to eat although breakwater doesn't open untill sandcastle opens so it might not be when you come up.

Bay Harbor reminds me of one of the better Midwestern interpretations of a decent seafood restaurant from late late 70's/early 80's. Lots of broiled-in-butter, institutional rice pilaf for those not interested in "baked or mashed", and vegetables cooked just a tad too long. They have not yet caught up with the late 80's/90's Alice Waters/Chez Panisse market-inspired-focus-on-fresh-ingredients thing.

And, if you are looking for asparagus foam, well, Sandusky is a long way from New York City.

On the plus side, there's an acceptable wine list, and the setting is quite nice, particularly if you manage to book a reservation that includes a view of the sun setting over the bay. True, there is lots of dark wood, etc, but that seems to work in this location rather than just appear dated. We enjoyed Bay Harbor, and will be back.

I used to really like Breakwater Cafe---it also has a fabulous waterside setting, is reasonably priced, and it's usually the least-crowded of the bunch. At one time I would attribute the light crowds only to its location tucked away behind the campground. In the last year, though, I had truly terrible service on both a lunch visit and a dinner visit, and the food has been awfully hit or miss. I still think it's the best on-point option for breakfast, but only because it's hard to screw up a buffet in either the service or the food.

I prefer Breakwater to Coffee Shop for breakfast. The Coffee shop is much more crowded, and hasn't been updated since 1967 or so. Lots of old formica and linoleum. In some diners, this effect is charming. Here it just looks grungy to me. The best breakfast, though, is the one in Castaway Bay. They add an omelet station to the "standard Cedar Point breakfast buffet."

The on-point Friday's is a Friday's, though I believe with a shorter menu. The off-point Friday's is a Real Friday's. The on-point location is usually very busy during the "obvious" dinner hour, and so I've never visited it.

I recomend a trip to Bay Harbor at least once. I think the steak there is the best.

But, you always have to eat at Johnny Rockets while in the park. My favorite place to eat. And, I was at the park last year for 2 days. The first day, we drove over to Steak'n'Shake at 1 in the morning and had a good meal. The other, we drove over to Olive Garden at midnight. mmmmmm...endless salad and breadsticks...

We eat at the Cabin and cook our own. Much better and MUCH cheaper.

I say......

That's exactly why I like it. It's your fathers steak house, with the Blue Streak in it's back yard!

Yuck... Johnny Rockets. I've always eaten off point, I just always needed the break. Over by Great Wolf there's a plethora of choices, personally Fazoli's is my favorite but whatever floats your boat.

Are there any Resturants in the park that serve Mexican food in the park. I tried to look at Cedar Points Website and did not find anything?

If It wasn't for fun, Life would be all work. Now who wants that????

No sitdown resturants serve Mexican, I think. But Los Gatos in Frontier Town serves Macho Nachos and Tacos. But even better, they serve Mini Corn Dogs...mmmmm

Take a look at that. It pretty much has the menu for all the quick service locations.

If any sitdown resturant did have Mexican, it might be Midway Market. I want to say I have had tacos in there, but I don't remember.

If your in the mood for Mexican though, check out Costa Azul on Rt. 2 East in Huron.

los gatos in frontier town does have the tacos and nachos.......and 99er was right Midway market does have tacos and nachos on their buffer line

Precisely. And, that's why I like it too. As it happens, my father's steakhouse (and his father's) closed a few years ago, and Bay Harbor is a close facsimile.

I used to do this, but last year (after packing in enough stuff to make breakfast for ten people three days) decided that I was on vacation. Screw cooking.

"Screw Cooking"? That in some sort of weird way sounds like it may be fun.

Mama Chetta's Pizza in the Hotel Breakers has excellent pizza for a reasonable price. I usually eat there once each visit. I don't think they open usually until dinner time, around 4 or 5.
