Restaurant Suggestion

We are staying 3 nights in June. Probably gonna eat at a sit down place on 2 of those nights. Thinking about Famous Daves one night. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place, on site, to eat dinner the other night.

Also, what are your opinions of Famous Daves

There is a TGI Friday's inside Hotel Breakers right on the point if you dont want to travel off to eat.

EDIT: Midway Market was $11.95 when we ate there for lunch last weekend and the food is surprisingly good for a buffet. It's also convenient being inside the park. *** Edited 5/11/2006 4:57:26 PM UTC by Loopy***

Here's the opinions on Famous Dave's.

As for anywhere else:

Fridays - Same as every other Fridays, so if you like it already its a safe bet

Johnny Rockets - If you like late food and a good show, go here. If you don't like waiting forever, probably not the best place.

Last Chance Saloon - It was alright last fall when I was in there. Took a little long to get the food, but it was also extremely crowded and seemingly understaffed.

Those are the places I've been. I'm sure others can offer opinions on some of the others. I'm planning on making at least a couple stops into Gameday on Saturday to watch King James get dethroned by Prince and the Gang.

Speaking of restaurants, does Macaroni's always offer the buffet as they did when they were the Kreepy..Kafe?

Famous Daves is a great place to eat.

Both Fridays in the Breakers, and Johnny Rockets are also have really good food.

Dont you have to exit the park to get there though? Eh its probably not that big a deal anyways. I suggest for a sit down resturant, the sports grill right next to Raptor. Coasters is also very good and not to pricey. Last year I think it was 6 something for a burger and frie, which isnt bad for amusement park food. A good place thats easy to grab food from, but isnt a sit down is the Happy Friar right across gemini/behind Top Thrill Dragster.

The Midway Market was an utter disaster the first, and last time I ate there.

The pop tasted like it still had soap in it, much of the meat was rubberish, mac & cheese was old...ugh. These, among other things that I didn't like about the food.

If you want kind of a nicer place you could try Breakwater Cafe out by Sandcastle. It's a bit of a treck to get out there, but they have an awesome view of the lake and a nice setting and menu.

Tell me more about Macaroni's

During HalloWeekends, Macaroni's (at least I think that I'm thinking of the right place) was turned into the Creepy, Kooky, Castle Cafe (I got the spelling horribly wrong above), and served a Pizza buffet. It was a pretty good deal, and I was wondering if they always serve a buffet, or if it was only for HW.

According the Cedar Point Macaroni's Menu, they do not offer a buffet, but I thought perhaps it was simply an oversight that it wasn't listed as such.

The Italian restaurant inside Hotel Breakers is very over priced.

pros:
The service was excellent.

Short walk from the Magnum entrance.

Cons:
Atmosphere is cheap, it looks like a strip mall restaurant while the price reflects a stand alone pad.

The food was salty and bland and the pasta was far from Al Dente.
One of the dishes I had used way too many capers and the Chicken was dry.

The bread was day old or had at least sat out to long.

They skimped on the sauce.

Appetizers were also over priced.

The food was warm and not Hot. (big no no for me)

Traditional Italian food was overlooked for a place that would probably see many children and young adults. Most of the ingredients are a acquired taste (capers, basil sauces etc.)

The price was not outrageous, but not what you would expect. I would compare the financial experience to paying for a basket inside the park. Our server was great and they seem to train them well. I would go back if they revised their menu or prepared the dishes properly.

I always like Bay Harbor Inn. Nice meal, good service, and usually quieter than most of the other sit-down places.

But being a seafood restaurant, it is a little more luxurious and in effect more expensive. If you are staying on site- make use of the buses that CP offers; it cutd down the walk time.

First the out-of-park places I've tried:

Famous Dave's is great. Very good stuff, at a fair price. Quality bbq. While I miss the sweet potato fries that the prior incarnation of this spot served, it's definitely an upgrade.

Bay Harbor will remind you of your father's (or, depending on your age, you gradfather's) favorite steakhouse/seafood restaurant. Not a bad place, by any means, but expect lots of broiled-in-butter and other "traditional" preparations---no fusion cuisine here.

Breakwater does have a fantastic setting, and is very peaceful tucked back there. The drink prices are also quite good. I've had several service disasters there at several different meals (except for the breakfast buffet, which you can't really screw up service-wise) and I don't expect to go back for anything other than breakfast until I hear some positive reports. They have a new menu, though, so maybe they'll have improved service this year, too.

You know how some old diner-style places carry off a nice sense of nostalgia? The Coffee Shop is not one of those places. It's just old.

In-park places:

Midway Market is fast and okay. If you are eating near the beginning of a meal period, or during a very busy time, the food is pretty good, otherwise it tends to sit out too long. You're clearly trading some quality for convenience, so if you want to get back to the midways without messing around, this is your place.

Johnny Rockets is a must-visit for us---we like the servers' attitudes there, and haven't found the service to be too slow. Maybe we're just lucky, or maybe it's because we find the entertainment value to be high enough that we don't mind waiting a bit. One of the better burgers on-point, and pretty fine onion rings. "Real" cherry cokes, (with syrup added on the spot) too.

Game Day Grill is a sports bar. As a sports bar, it's not as good as some, but as a place for mass-market pub food, it's pretty good. We liked it, and will be happy to return.

I've only been in Macaroni's during it's Creepy Cafe state, so can't comment there. My sense is that it is less popular than others (possibly due just to location) so if the park is busy when you are there, this might have a shorter wait.

One place everybody always forgets is the Chuckwagon Inn located in Frontier Town! You can actually get a pretty decent meal there these days. The chicken is usually very good, and the salads are good also. The stew isn't all bad either. The Chuckwagon also can tend not to be as stupid-busy as a lot of other places can be also.

I like a grill and/or skittle at Lighthouse Point better than all of those ;)
