Respect

First I would like to point out I've only been a member here 2 months. And I don't intend to be vulgar or anthing like that, so, I'm sorry if I upset you.

But, in the last month I've seen a increase of negative threads to CP, Intamin and it's rides.

I've haven't seen alot of it in this thread, but a WHOLE LOT of it in MF, TTD, and WT. Alot of people have been pissed off either towards CP, Intamin or both. Weither its MF seatbelts, TTD in it break downs or WT in how it's not "smooth".

I'm posting this thread to all of the people who have said all of these things that aren't necessary. Do you not love CP? Do you hate it? Your still in love with it b/c your here, aren't you? If you love something or someone who should treat it, him or her with respect.

So people, please lay off of CP.

Well, many times it is a place's biggest fans that are it's harshest critics. I think it is mainly people wanting CP to be as good as possible, sort of like people bashing a sports team they love.

That said, I do think the Intamin seat belt thing has been blown out of proportion (no pun intended), but everyone has a right to their opinion, as long as the posting guidelines are followed.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,

If you don't like the nature of the discussion, I think you know the solution. Don't come here. I won't be hurt at all.

If people aren't accusing us of being zombie fanboys we're being accused of being too harsh. You can't win.

Pete I have to agree with you on that point.

Sieve - Why shouldn't people complain about TTD breaking down or MF's stupid belt policy or the general rudeness of park staff. Imagine you went to the circus, but they announced after you paid for your admission and walked through the gate (with no possible refund at this point) that the trapeze artists and lion tamer wouldn't be performing. You plopped down your 20 dollars so that you could see the lions and the trapeze guys and instead you're stuck watch the clowns climb out of a VW bug.

The people here complain because, as Pete said, they want CP to be at its absolute best, and anything less than that is a rip-off. I would find it hard to believe if somebody in CP's front office didn't peruse these boards, even though they don't post. Its a great place for them to get feedback as to what they are doing right and wrong.

I really hope things are better than what they seem to have been lately when I go in October.

How can we respect a company whom can't manage to keep TTD running on a consistent basis? I would even go far as to say I am a CP fanboy. But, that doesn't mean I believe that there are no improvements to be made. There always have, there always will be. Part of the customer service industry includes taking critisism (sp?) and compliments. Without one or the other, how can you ever judge how well of a job you are doing?

This is very well put. Nothing can ever be perfect, and let's face it, neither will CP. So, since we seem to be CP's greatest fans, and we have suggestions, problems to address, complaints even, why not voice them here? Or if you are happy and want to discuss how much you love the park, then this is the place!

But I agree with Jeff when he said "you can't win." *** Edited 8/17/2004 7:14:09 PM UTC by JRics82***

I've been lurking lately and I mean, sieve has something of a point. Folks have been complaining a lot and although Cedar Point folks do read this site, unless they plan on caving in, nothing is going to happen. I think what he is saying is somethings you just have to let go. It would be messed up if that Lion you were talking about wasn't performing, but you complaining about it isn't going to get it up and going.

But at the same time Sieve, you can expect folks to just follow Cedar Point with a blind eye as if everything they do is perfect. Cedar Point is ran by very flawed people. Not as flawed a most parks, but still flawed and they do make mistakes. Cedar Point also costs more than $5 to get in. Folks want their $40 worth of fun and if they aren't having it then they are going to speak up.

At any rate, there is a common ground. We just have to find it. But don't diss the man for speaking his mind.

I wanna see Cedar Point become the best park possible, not just for me but for all people that go to the park, and the park itself. I mean, if I see a problem that takes away CP's greatness, I would want it fixed so CP can be a better place. I just want to see CP do as good as I know they can, so I voice my opinion on what they should do to become a better park. Although, some things, as said before, are ridicously nagged about, the MF seatbelt topic.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I thought that the MF seatbelt topic was overdone too until we made our yearly trip and I couldn't ride it (seat belt was hip bone to hip bone so don't tell me to loose weight).

Anyway, now I have heard both "you guys always rag on people with negative comments" and "there are too many negative comments here", so my conclusion is the discussion groups now have the proper balance.

theres an easy way to avoid this... That would to STOP coming to pointbuzz. It's like jeff said it won't hurt us a bit.
To Jugga- the circus thing is right though. I would be mad that in this case i could see the lion tamber or the trapeze guys wern't here. But when i got home i'd tell my family that i had a great time anyway with either family/ friends or that i got to see the clowns.

Point is: CP is still a great park and you guys should have more positive threads here. It's easy to talk about the negatives, so why don't talk about the positives. Did CP suck before MF,WT and TTD?.................HELL NO.

Sieve, I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same, but we know about all the other things to do at CP. Sticking to my circus analogy:
What if the circus was advertised as only being the trapeze and lion tamer? You get your program for the circus and it says that the lion tamer and trapeze are going to be the last two shows. You know there's a chance the lion tamer might not perform, but you're also a huge fan of this circus and can name all the clowns, and have tried to hit on the magicians assistant etc. You're like, eh, I'll catch the lion tamer next time, I've seen his routine before its no big deal.
Sitting a few seats down from you is someone who is there for the first time, and they can't stop talking about how they've waited all year just to see the lion tamer. The didn't get to see the show last year and want to see it this year. After 3 hours while the rest of the circus is done, the ringmaster comes out to announce that the lion tamer won't be performing. That other guy is going to be pissed.
Most people will if it happens enough, even the die-hard fans of the circus. The same goes for my Red Wings. I love the team, more than anything, but unless they finish their season with 16 playoff victories, I'm not happy. The same goes for CP fans. They want their park to be open with 16 coasters running and no less. Some of these threads aren't spawned so much out of hatred or anger for CP, but more out of frustration. This is the park they love and when everything doesn't go right, they want somewhere to vent. PB gives them somewhere to vent. I usually read through their posts because even behind all the emotional bullxxxx is truth.
There are plenty of positive threads, unfortunately their are seen about as much as the positive news. If you notice the restoration of power and water to Baghdad was never talked about, but a couple soldiers dying a week gets 5-10 minutes (for those in the military please don't take this as an insult, I'm only using it as an example to show the bad always outweighs the good, and I would rather see the time spent on good news brought up to the level of the bad rather than the other way around). Anyway, if you look, the positive threads will have 1-2 pages of posts, maybe. The MF seatbelt thread was up to 22 last time I checked. It's like the villain of a bad movie, it just won't die.
Anyway, that's my rant about things. Take it as you will.

Jeff-

I've read several of your posts and I must say that you are extremely rude and stuckup...

Another Noob that doesn't like Jeff, it makes me wonder why they continue to visit his site?

What are you talking about? Jeffs comments rude... ugh, no.

I think they brainwash people at TPOL. But oh well, I for one find some of his comments very funny.

The only thing "wrong" with me is that I can't stand stupid people. You get lots of them on that Internet. No tolerance at all.

Agreed.

Do with this as you wish:

A parent loves their child, and therefore points out when the child is doing things wrong so they can become a better person. If they aren't corrected, the kid continues to do whatever the heck they want.
