I'm sorry if this is in the wrong post area, or if it has been talked about before.
We have always stayed in Hotel Breakers, and just love the beds. They are the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in outside of our own. Wel this year we are going to stay at SS and would like to know if all the resorts have the same beds.
Thanks for any input
I stayed at Sandcastle last August and had no complaints about the beds (the pullout couch, however, was a different story, but what can you expect from a pullout). I'm not sure if they're the same throughout all of the resorts, I go to CP for the rides and atmosphere, not the beds.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
^ Exactacly what I have been saying for months with the whole CP needs more "perks or ammenities" at their hotels.

I respectfully disagree with the above. When you charge $200-$300 a night for a room then it better be pretty darn comfortable whether it is next to Niagara Falls or an amusement park. In fact, I would make an argument that Cedar Point Resorts needs MORE amenities, not less, because they are charging high end prices without the benefit of a high end staff. As nice as some of the college kids can be, you aren't getting Embassy Suites service at the Breakers or Sandcastle.
Some nicer amenities could make up for that, to some degree.

Don't stay at Sandcastle!
We always stayed at Breakers, then this past summer my brother made reservations at Sandcastle, so we did the same and we were able to have rooms right next to each other. It was probably the hottest weekend of the year, the air conditioners barely took the humidity out of the room and hardly made it cool. Then just having the longer haul back and forth to the park, yeah you can take the shuttle but that gets old too. The bugs are out of this world back there, especially in the open staircases.
My wife and I made reservations at the Breakers tower a couple weeks later and it was also hot. We had to shut the a/c off it got so cold in the room.
I'm gonna say that a CP bed is a CP bed. The only difference would be in the size of the bed Queen or King, comfort wise i would say they are all the same.

Breakers Tower (and Breakers East for that matter) are of block construction. Sandcastle is basically a wood building with stucco. That is why the Breakers stays cooler, the sound between rooms isn't as bad, etc.
I've said in other places, I think the land that Sandcastle sits on is the most valuable on the Peninsula. Cedar Fair did not know the potential of the resort side of the business when they built Sandcastle so they built it on the cheap. If they had it to do over, I suspect there would be a Tower-ish structure sitting there. In fact, they may yet be one day.

I fully agree with the whole resort price/quality. The quality of the rooms aren't good enough to pay so much during the peak season.
Lighthouse Point is the only one that the premium price is justified with their unique atmosphere the cottages/cabins have.

Are you kidding me? The beds suck. I've paid less for a suite at Caesars Palace and had the best bed ever.
That's what Wahoo and I seem to bring up over and over... that for what they charge, it doesn't match what you can get anywhere else. Vegas, Orlando, Niagara... it doesn't matter... that's the competition. Cedar Point is not sensitive to that. For now, I suppose, they can get away with it if occupancy is high, but it can't last. I have zero desire to ever stay in any of the hotels because, dare I say, I know better and I understand the value of what a room should be.
They still get my money once a year on closing weekend for Lighthouse Point, and as long as those cottages are clean and well-maintained, I'll continue to stay there. I still see value there. I just don't feel that way about the rooms in the hotels.

I was talking about Lighthouse Point being new. That's why its "worth it" to most people. But, like you said, occupancy is high, so I don't really see them changing anything soon. Its their moto to not fix things that seem to be working.
Well, I for one still love The Breakers. No it doesn't have the amenities it should, but the charm is delightful, so it will have to suffice. I guess I just don't know better I'm not rich like Jeff ;) (Assumed he was waiting for that remark) I hope they will continue to improve on the overall resort experince, or I will continue to book off peak. I don't get why some people don't think the resort side is important though. Even my sons that can't wait to run off to the park to get on rides still savor the hotel experience.
I'm getting interested in trying Lighthouse with all the positive feedback here & the other thread. We might just have to give it a try once this coming season.

I'm not rich, but seven or eight years ago, when I started traveling on the company dime, I realized how much better it feels to stay in nicer places. Now I can't go back. (Yeah, gold member of Loews First. ;))
