Hello All:
I was looking through the ride list and noticed that two of Cedar Point's coasters are registered (the website includes the registered mark). Those two coasters are Mantis and Raptor. Now, the question is: did CP register those, or does B&M hold the rights to the name?
BTW: I also noticed that Chaos had a trademark afterward, and I assume that the manufacturer of that ride holds that trademarked name.
Regards,
"E"
Actually I don't think that B&M has anything do do w/the regestry. I just think that they don't want other parks using it. Chaos on the other hand is the general name for that type of ride and they call all of em that.

Certain rides may NOT be for you...
There is a rumor that SFDL will get a mantis clone with the same name, so how do they keep the name when it's a different amusement chain.
Well I've awakened from my great slumber in time for coaster season, how you doing Jeff?
I don't believe that CP has ever let one of their main attractions be cloned, unless you count the endless Magmun rip-offs, and I don't think they ever will, especially not to an emerging competition such as Six Flags.
I noticed Magnum doesn't have a registered trademark, weird.

All I know is that Chaos, is also at Six Flags parks, and it is called Chaos and looks exactly alike, so I am assuming (my husband hates that word) that it is sort of the manufactures trademark. Am I wrong anyone?

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

CpInvert this is an exact Raptor clone somewhere in Japan... not w/ the same name of course!

Some of the names are US registered trademarks, and you can look them up at www.uspto.gov.

Chaos is the manufactures name, it's a standard production ride that can be found in a number of parks, all with the same name. Same thing with Scrambler, Matterhorn, Monster, Super Hymalaya and others. There is also a mirror image clone of Raptor at a park in Japan, but of course it is not called Raptor.
