I’m relatively new to the Reddit sphere. The cedar point sub seems to be commented on quite often, with daily discussions. I started to wonder if it’s a lot of pointbuzzers or a whole different set of folks. I enjoy pointbuzz and don’t wanna see Reddit take over as the main source of cedar point discussions. What is you alls experience with the cp subreddit?
First ride; Magnum 1994
Bold strategy marketing the competition. Mostly kidding. My experience is basically none. I tried Reddit once some years ago and just didn't align to the interface. I'm basically strictly on here and occasionally CoasterBuzz for my CP digest. Does that sway the needle in either direction? :)
384 MF laps
Smoking Area Drone Pilot
I read both regularly as well.
Reddit is kind of halfway between the legit discussion of PointBuzz and the repetitive "How busy is the park right now?" messiness of the Facebook groups. I appreciate that r/cedarpoint maintains a daily thread for ride/crowd statuses whenever the park is open. It helps keep the other threads focused on unique topics.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
You can traffic platforms for everything, and give your money (ad views) to them, or you can frequent independent sites and not keep making big tech companies own everything. They don't give a **** about what you're interested in, they just use you as product to feed the algorithms.
It's like buying local instead of buying from Walmart. Considering the price to you is the same, it sure works out better to visit the independents.

I'm one of the mods over at r/cedarpoint and while I do love the community over there, it's fundamentally different than here and CoasterBuzz.
I've been a member of both CB and PB (Jeff banned my first PB account for good reason) since 2000 and POP World Mediasphere always feels like an actual community. Usernames were easily tied to personalities because we know each other. We got into healthy debates that never devolved into personal attacks (most of the time). If you were new, you had to integrate into the culture of the message board or leave.
I cannot tell you how many racist, sexist, and overall ****ty attacks I see on Reddit because r/CedarPoint is part of an overall larger community. If you're part of Reddit, you can post on the sub. It sometimes feels transactional. But because there are so many people over there, you can find a multitude of people to connect with.
