Recording vs. Live op.

With CP's last three coasters, MF, WT, and TTD, they all have had the riding instructions and such in a recording. My question is which do you prefer? and do you see this trend continuing?

Personally i like the live ride op better, they give the ride its own little personality, and for the most part, even though their jokes are corny, there still good for a laugh. I feel that a Ride Op thats really into his or her job can make the ride even better.

But CP will probably continue the trend of having the recording, since it probably saves them money in the long run.

I prefer the ride ops more. They give it more enthuseism. I don't see why it would be more cost efficient. I think they can just play that so the ride op can do other stuff and he doesnt have to concentrate on talking
It prolly saves them money in the case of something going wrong too. If they say: hey, we played this every 10 seconds all day, and you didn't follow the rules, it's your fault. Not ours. That would be a little better than saying, well the ride op is supposed to tell you not to do that. ( I can't see that being a problem very often.)

But either way, I don't care how it comes across, if I was an employee I wouldn't walk to have to talk all day.

A "live" voice is always better than a "voice-tracked" recording!
I don't see how having a recording saves the park money-- they still need to have some form of a PA system on the rides. What it probably boils down to are the attorneys and insurance companies demanding that certain things be said (verbally, and printed on signs) so that the park can avoid some of the potential lawsuits brought on by today's society.

By providing the recording on the platform, the park covers its end by making sure that the required information is said in a clear, and concise manor.

That's probably why those annoying recordings are on the lifts for Raptor and Magnum--the same recordings that the people walking below the ride can hear loud and clear, but the people riding the ride can't hear at all over the "clanking" of the chain.

I like the way it is with the recordings, you get to hear one of the operators talking to you anyway. But the recordings just gives me chills, especially on Millenium Force. They have a womans voice playing with some strange music in the background, but you eventually get to hear somebody. So you get the same experience as everybody else plus an operator.

But what I really loved but didn't experience yesterday was how the Wicked Twister operators would play with you a little bit when they were going to launch you. All day yesterday, they always launched at the exact end of "3..2..1..(launch)" and I don't think that is fun, I rather have them just launch me off when I am trying to guess it. It gives me that extra thrill like on Demon Drop and Power Tower.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

There is nothing like doing it live!

I usually like the live talker until I rode Mantis on Tuesday. Nothing worse than a white kid trying to sound like he grew up in the ghetto! His act got tired real fast.
The recordings are necessarry for the reason already stated, that everything is covered in the event of a lawsuit. I really don't care too much one way or another, but I don't see why they can't just have the ride ops tell you about the ride itself and then play the recording that tells you about the safety stuff and rules.

Having grown up at CP with live spiels, that's what I prefer. I understand the reasoning behind the recordings, but the ops doing the spiels really make it fun. We laughed so hard at the Mean Streak ops calling it "Top Thrill Mean Streak" and saying "hands down! Hands down! hands down!"

I love the ride ops doing the spiels. The recordings are okay, the only one I don't like is the BS one.
