For those of you who haven't ridden Raptor yet this season you will be pleasantly surprised by how quiet the lift hill is now. No more deafening anti roll backs, it is very smooth and very quiet until you get to the very top. If you look up you can see they redid the lift this winter. You can actually have a conversation on the lift and hear the other person! :)
Nice to see they are staying on top of Raptor, after all he is 15 this year! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
Did you notice if the anti-rollbacks on the train are now "padded?" I noticed that the anti-rollbacks on the trains of Diamondback had something like a pad on them that really dampened the sound, and it was a pleasant surprise.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Probably take some heat for this one (oh well), but I like the reference to Raptor as "he" ! Certainly a far cry from the God awful nicknames of Millie and Maggie (yuk !) which some insist on calling our two most beloved, MASCULINE possesions. Now before any womens lib activists or feminists flip out, there's nothing wrong with female names or referring too coasters as "she". Just not the Magnum and the Force.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
I wouldn't be surprised if they had to "fix" the lift for safety reasons. Having some hearing damage in my left ear, it was painful to hear the lift noise while on the ride unless I stuck my finger in my ear. I'm sure that there's some safety standard for that.

I have noticed the lift has been quieter. I think they should also put sand in the supports(like they do on Hydra & Talon at Dorney Park). They could also do the same thing on Mantis. :)

Actually, my damage likely comes from standing amongst screaming teenage girls while coaching. Get to a big event in a big convention center with 60+ courts running, and it's bad. It's mostly loud high frequency noise, which is a component of the loud lift.

^ Say no to sand in supports. The roar of a big B&M ride is one of the most enjoyable sounds at an amusement park, imo, and I hate to see parks filling the supports.
Amen to that! B&M + sand = should be illegal...that roar is amazing! :)
Back on topic though...the lift did seem quieter when I rode it glad I was not the only one that noticed it.

I thought it was much more quiet on opening day this year.
But it didn't sound any quieter to me on Saturday night's ERT. Maybe all the extra grease finally wore off. In the last row I was screaming at my daughter in the next seat and she couldn't hear me.
