Raptor was announced 15 years ago today!

That was an exciting time. I worked up there in foods{Burger Patio} and rumors of the new ride was running rampent all season. It was excited for our stand because the ride was going to go right over us and change our patio. I remember that day very well. A special issue of "Behind the Lines" was published and thats were I first learned the name. The nighttime edition of the Sandusky Register had "Raptor New Ride" on the headline.

I was also a bit sad as it meant the Mill Race was leaving and being dismantled. While I was excited about the Raptor its never fun to see a ride demolished but that's life.

I had planned to ride the Mill Race on its last day which was going to be the following Monday which was Labor Day but it was raining and I wanted to get more sleep as I had a closing shift that night but it was weird seeing a ride and knowing the next day it would be kapult.

The Raptor at least for me was well worth every penny it was and is still a great ride. Of course I went back in 1994 and it was an interesting year with a new roller coaster. We had 4 Raptor ride nights that year and it seemed everyone showed up for all of them. Good memories.

Wow. 15 years already. Are you sure it was announced on this day? I remember being there in the last week of August and got a one page flyer with all the details.

I remember it well. I assisted the Marketing Department/PR, which later led to me working in that department.
In 1994, I started the season in March and was a member of the "original" Raptor crew. I still have SOP #2 and the training video.
