Raptor Strobes Back

Although I never rode "back in the day" so I can't say about then, the strobe lighting on the cobra roll is much more intense then eariler in the season.

I never noticed any strobes. Are they only run or noticable at night?

Are you sure it's not just the on-ride photo bulb(s) going?

Those are at the far other end of the ride. I must say I've never noticed strobes there, but it SEEMS like there are when a train goes through the cobra at night.

Goodbye MrScott

John

The on-ride photo for one side of the train (left I believe) is at the end of the straightaway right before the cobra roll and the second photo spot is at the end. After(?) the helix.

Storbe lighting is at the Cobra roll area. They were there when I worked in 2003 and still there in 2005 . Just look at the ride at night you will notice it.

Deja Vu. I know the camera for the left seats is during the helix at the end of the ride. It seems to me that any strobes would have to be the other on ride photo.

The photos for the right side of the train are taken on the dive into the final corkscrew, and the photos for the left side are taken after the final helix.

There ARE strobes on the cobra roll. They have been there since 1994.

That's cool.... I've never noticed those...

Yeah I have really noticed the strobes this season too. Maybe they changed the bulbs. ;)

If they did, it was EXPENSIVE, I'd bet! I am a Plant Buyer and spent just over $18,000.00 on light bulbs today. Granted, their use is for heat; but to generate enough light to light a coaster must be expensive, too!

You bought the bulbs yourself? With your own money?

Maybe $18,000 worth of light bulbs???

Or did you really pay from your own pocket MrScott?

Wow heat lights what are you manufacturing? Ha

Anyway a typical 1000 watt strobe light bulb cost around $80 a bulb to replace. A 1000 Watt strobe light is enough to light up a school gym like day when it flashes. I have one i use with my DJ equipment. Of course CP buys the best of the best so they might be around $200 a bulb if that.

That's funny. I don't remember strobes on the cobra roll either. What I do remember is that the floods that light the cobra roll from the ground would go out as the train approached and stay out until the train exited the roll. You did the cobra roll in the dark. This was a couple years back, though.

Those strobes have been there as long as I can remember.

I actually thought maybe you did greenhouse crap, MrScott :) I didn't get it the first time I read through it.

So... That's a major duh for me.

No, I don't spend my money while at work. BTW, the bulbs are used in huge ovens in our Thermobond area. The heat is used to "mate" the fabric to the fiberglass board that, when fishished, becomes the headliner (inside roof) of cars and trucks. The bulbs are only manufactured by one company in the US, which is probably why they get about $1500 bucks a piece for them.

For those who don't remeber ever seeing the strobes or just remember the lights going out...well that is my point.

The strobes are back and brighter than ever.
