Raptor Still Flying Strong At 10!!!

I dont think anyone has made a thread of this or not, but this year Raptor is 10 years old and she is still flying strong. If a similar topic already exists, please let me know. :) Lets put it up for one of the best B&M's out there!!!

Wow, it's been 10 years already?

10 years since the hell that was 5th grade?
10 years since I almost peed my pants going up the lift on Raptor for the first time? 12 years since Mean Streak? Wow.

Don't forget 15 for Magnum! (Holy, crap, that's a long time that doesn't seem like it)

Isn't Mean Streak 13 years old?

Correct Mean Streak is 13 years old but Raptor has aged a lot better than Mean Streak.

Who was that masked man anyways?, I don't know but he sure had a stupid looking horse.

That makes Iron Dragon 17. Yay math!

I own you!

Don't forget Blue Streak's 40th. I think that ride has actually gotten better over the past few years. It's also CCMR's 35th and Jr. Gemini's 25th. Lots of anniversaries this year.

Yawn, they keep all of the borring rides in the front of the park these days. ;) All of the tall rides are in the middle to the back of the park, they had to put Raptor in the front of the park so people wouldn't forget its there.

Raptor is still one of the best coasters anywhere. It was a great thrill working at the park when Raptor was new. I worked at Burger Patio that year and it took some getting used to the noice. We lost half of our patio for Raptor and our back patio was completly redone. I worked on work crew and we got our first ride on April 21st, more than two weeks before the opening of the ride to the public. All the employees were excited about this ride. We had 4 countem FOUR employee ride nights during the season. It had its downtimes but nothing like some other rides during their opening seasons.

I will never forget how guests walking down the midway just stopped in their tracks when the shot the first train out on opening day. I do wish CP would getanother coaster from B&M. They have enough Intamin and Arrow coasters.

Responding in fun to Dan:

Raptor is just another lame B&M with the same elements B&M uses all the time on all their coasters. The thing is getting rough on the drop, in the cobra roll, and the end of the helix. It's got bird doo doo all over it. It doesn't know how to keep a paint job especially on the rusted rails again. I just hope the thing doesn't start to crack in places. Ahem.

Now Magnum is there not a smoother coaster out there??? ;)

Now being serious:

Raptor, one of the best B&M inverted coasters out there.

10 days till I'll be riding Fire and Ice again!!! :) :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

Well Jo, were just going to have to get our park maps out again and do some looking.

Raptor was my first coaster, 3 years ago. I still ride that baby often.

If I want inversions, or anything of that sort, Raptor is the smoothest coaster to do that on. I won't ride Corkscrew, because it's too shaky, and it gives headaches easily... and Mantis is alright, but nothing beats Raptor.

When my friends and I come to Cedar Point, the ones who haven't been on any roller coasters are starting out on Raptor. Raptor, I think, is an awesome coaster, and even though it's not the tallest and fastest roller coaster, I still would enjoy "power-riding" Raptor all day long.

Raptor was my first, and I hope it remains as loyal, and stead-fast as it was the first time I rode it.

I can't beleive it, ten years? Wow, I was four, the year I was turned away from Thunder Canyon, the year where I rode the Junior Gemini for half the day. It feels like yesterday, but it was so long ago! It was also the year I spoke my first word. It was all when I was just a little boy.

I love math, physics, science, cosmology, is it a mystery why I love roller coasters?

Last year was Raptors 10th season

Thats right Virginia, I am Santa Claus.

Actually your wrong magnum force....Raptor is indeed 10 this year. It was built in 1994.

2004 - TL at Mean Streak Photos!
2003 - TL at Raptor photos!

Yes, but look at this breakdown of seasons:

1994-1
1995-2
1996-3
1997-4
1998-5
1999-6
2000-7
2001-8
2002-9
2003-10
2004-11

While Raptor's 10th birthday is this year, this is it's 11th season.

...and the original post claimed "this year Raptor is 10 years old and she is still flying strong."

So I don't see why Brent needed to start an argument.

I remember people talking about Batman when it was built and the excitement that surrounded it. We were all desparate for an Ohio park to get an inverted and then came Raptor.

I remember fondly being there on opening day and getting the first "public" ride in the front row. After a long wait for the dignitaries and Red Cross riders we eased into the front seat, took off, and coaster riding hit a whole new level for me.

------------------Well diddnt Magnum come out in 89 and they had there 10 year thing going on in 99 so for shure its Raptors 10th year. Still flying strong thats for shure.
