Raptor looking kind of rough these days...

Anyone else think as one of the closest attractions to the front gate, Raptor could use some sprucing up? It could use a good coat of paint again as well as the station with that kind of rusting away. Then they got that bird crap all over it which I know they can't help, but maybe a power wash?

No point in washing it. It was painted in the last 5 years. Not much you can do without painting it every year which isn't going to happen.

Colored track + seagulls = crappy problem ;)

Solution: slip green food coloring into seagull's food.

Could use a nice power washing and the bird spikes on the tops of all the supports to prevent the seagulls from crapping all over it. I dont understand why this has never been done yet. Such a simple solution!

With most rides, anything you attach to the structure has to be approved by the manufacture. So it is possible that B&M said no to sometime like bird spikes. Imagine a set of them falling off and hitting a train.

Diamondback has the bird spikes as well as Intimidator and they're both B&Ms.

I've seen those spikes on another B&M somewhere once. Don't exactly remember which country I was in at the time though.

I wonder if newer installations are designed to accommodate the bird spikes.

So a couple birds **** on the ride. Big deal. Do you actively go around your local neighborhoods looking for stuff birds **** on and demand that it be power washed or painted?

Where are they located on those rides?

Maverick00's avatar

The storage sheds and station. They could be along the ride but that's where I noticed them.

So not actually attached to supports and on places that the train passes under at high speeds?

Not as I know of.

Ok, that is different then. I don't think you will ever see something like bird spikes on supports. They have the potential of coming loose from the vibrations and falling on a passing train.

It is not a couple of pieces of birdcrap it is literally POUNDS of it lol on ALL the supports, it is gross. I hope the new coaster has them since the ride may have similar supports as Raptor.

Do as the Cleveland Indians did a few years ago, shoot off some fireworks every now and then during the day. It will scare off the birds and be an advertisement for Luminosity. ;)

That only worked because the square acreage of Jacobs Field is decidedly smaller than that of Cedar Point, unless you plan on shooting fireworks off from multiple points around the entire amusement park.

Speaking of, that sounds like a good idea for a show. Fireworks from multiple launch points. Going to write up a letter and send that direct to Mr. Ouimet.
