I know this is just a small question, but I'm curious...
Why did they re-do the Raptor entrance a few years ago?
Coaster Fanatic Since 2003
Didn't the add a lane to go to the freeway entrance? To make it more easily noticed. I could be wrong.
Just looked like they wanted to "angle" it towards the entrance of the park....Freeway entrance is on the side...
I'm surprised the sign is still standing after 11 years, and didn't "disappear" like other lost graphics in the park. Reminds me of the “Frontier Town” sign that once spanned across the north end of the Frontier Trail.

Last year, I did a research paper on CP. I interview the (then) Assistant Manager of Ride Operations, Matt Ozoskey. He told me that his best guess for why they turned the entrance is to get more people to ride it as they entered the park. He thought that it may get people's attention if it is facing toward them, not toward the side as they enter the park. But, this was just his guess. (He seemed not to have too much advanced knowledge on much, but it made for a real cool interview, and a great essay)
However, I don't know if an actual reasn was ever announced. If it was, I never heard it... *** Edited 4/12/2005 2:31:16 AM UTC by IWantBansheeBack***
It catches my attention, not that it didn't before because that's the first thing i ride when i walk in the park. Front row BABY!!

Dont you think the only 137 foot lift over you would get your attention, because for me it does.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
I don't really look at the sign. I have no idea what it looks like really, because the 137 foot life over my head is what gets my attention.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
Oh! That big green coaster that you see as you enter the park is Raptor! :)

When I went to CP when I was younger, I wanted to ride Raptor, but I really couldn't find the entrance or get to entrance any way. So I'm glad they moved it towards the park.
I have to wonder if there are buried utilities in that entrance plaza that they needed to dig up for some reason, or something like that. The moving about that they did is so minor that it doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort to do it. On the other hand, if other work required digging up the concrete in that spot anyway, the change makes sense.
I just don't fully understand why they would go to that much trouble to shift the Raptor entrance a couple of feet when it took them a dozen years to finally get around to cutting that railing in the Magnum queue. On its own, the change to the Raptor entrance just doesn't make a lot of sense.
Just an opinon, of course...

He's talking about the piece they cut out of the queue railings (replaced by a chain that goes across) at the bottom of the stairs in 2001 so that if there's no line, you can just go straight up to the station and not have to walk around the last queue.
Now if they could just fix the Freeway issues or get rid of it all together, pretty much everything on Magnum would at least make sense. ;)

No, it wouldn't, Matt. You, of all people, should know that the co-dispatch panel on Magnum is in the absolute worst place they could have put it, the lift hill autospiel is beyond stupid, and the new recorded spiel is about 20 seconds too long. :)
Oddly enough, they cut that rail and put up the chain. Then they started Freeway which made them put the chain back up again. What they really need to do is when there is no wait, put up a sign at the ride entrance that says, "<=Please use Freeway entrance=<"
