I was up there on thursday. the trains were going REALLY slowly up the lift and the chain sounded awful. 10 minutes after I got off, the ride went down for maintenance, and was closed for the rest of the day and then all day friday too. I think that their motor is broken.

Last night I was at the park and they had a crane and a lift with guys working at the top of the lift hill, I was thinking it looked like a chain issue.

I don't know what a "crain" is, but I did see the same thing that cedarpointfreak saw when I was at the park Friday night.

Might have been the big gear up at the top of the lift if it wasn't the motor or the chain. We had an issue with with that at Magnum one time in 2003 I think. In that instance, they were able to weld it back together and have us running in a couple hours though.

Nice to know the problem was fixed in an extremely timely fashion.

Great ride, glad it wasn't down for too long.

It does sound like a problem with the idler sprocket for the chain at the top of the lift. It it is the sprocket, it could be a bad bearing, chewed teeth, or fatigue cracking especially in a heat affected zone from welding.

It was the idler sprocket. It was fixed, and the ride went up about 5 p.m. Sunday. It ran Monday with no problems except about 40 minutes of downtime from about 9:20 to 10 a.m.

I don't know what the downtime was about, except a train didn't exit the station for some reason. They transfered a train off, but all three were running again when it went back up.

Yeah, I was there the day it got fixed. And Jeff, how come when I made a thread about this it got locked?

Because this one slipped through. Jeff and Walt don't sit here all day waiting to lock threads.

Before they could get this one, it turned into a meaningful discussion about what was actually wrong.
