Ok, so I have 2 and a half days to conquer CP. Here is the big question: What is there to do in the surrounding area if if RAINS!!!! Are me and my girlfriend going to be going stir-crazy or is there some alternatives? Please help me all you Sandusky-ites.
Well, there is:
-Sandusky Mall (It is not large at all, I'd recommend Strongsville's South Park Centre or Elyria's Midway mall 30-45 minutes away)
-Sports City has a lot to do. There is a decent sized arcade
-Harbor Bay Indoor Golf Dome (off Route 2 in Huron)
-Merry-Go-Round Museum in Downtown Sandusky
-Lots of small shops in downtown Sandusky
-2 regular movie theaters, one next to Walmart on 250 and one behind the Sandusky Mall
-Sandusky State Theatre (There's usually plays or dollar movies there)
-Sandusky Maritime Museum- I'm not sure when it's going to open, but the outer structure looks good. It may be completed by the end of the summer.
-Thomas Edison's birthplace- It's located in Milan
-Lake Erie Outlet Mall-It's starting to get more outlets after it was sold a year or two ago
-Drive Through Safari- Port Clinton (It may be interesting)
-Something called "Dinosaur Hill" near Catabwa/Port Clinton (you can see a brochure)
-Zahars Candy Shop in Vermilion- You gotta go if it's raining!
-And there's always the hotel's indoor pool...
If I think of anything else, I'll add it!
There's plenty to do at CP when it rains. Check out http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/strategy/rain.asp
Besides, very, very few days are ever washouts.

If it rains in the morning (opening to about 4)you are lucky. Everyone will leave. Then the park is yours the rest of the day. I went once last season in July for a starlight after it had rained all day and walked on all the coasters.
But if you drive a long distance to the park and it rains all day, I guess you aren't so lucky.
Thanks everyone, this website is the best CP reference there is.
Now heres my ?, if it rains on Saturday the 13th like they are saying it might, will they still run MF in the rain, or will they close it down till it stops?

Ask yourself: Would you ride a motorcycle at 92 mph in the rain with no face shield on your brain bucket? :)

Usually and after it rains, everyone leaves. This doesn't always happen though. Last year, on my first trip of the year, it rained from about noon to 7. The rain stopped while we were eating dinner in the Boathouse. We went back to the park and the lines were as long if not longer than they were earlier in the day! To entertain ourselves, we walked the midway about 20 times and sat under the umbrellas. We also talked to the ride ops on Demon Drop for a couple hours. Just being in the park was entertaing enough!
if it rains that means its time to play fasination or skeeball.
Okay heres one to ponder......if the rain is going to sting at 92mph, then wonder how mayflies hitting you at that speed are going to feel? :) I hope this wont pose a problem........dang Mayfiles!

...That's the other reason I wear glasses while riding...

Another rainy day trip- hang out at the Red Garter, take in a show, and grab a brew or two. For some reason, when the rides re-open and are kicking up grease and dirt, you don't seem to mind as much. :)
BTW- If you follow this tip, please, PLEASE remember to continue to ride responsibly.
