We entered the station and headed for the back of the train, where it seemed to be a pretty short line. It ended up that there was a single rider at the front of the line, and the people behind him had 4 people, so we went in front of them and rode with the single rider. I breathed a sigh of relief as we got our clear and headed up the lift.
We were about halfway up when out of nowhere we hear this huge crash of thunder (We never did see the lightning) and I thought for sure they would stop us. Boy was I wrong. Just as we crested the top, it started to rain. And when I say rain, i mean RAIN. It was pouring by the time we got to the bottom of the hill, and we were getting pelted by raindrops. It was raining so hard, and combined with our speed, it felt like we were getting socked in the face with golf ball sized hail.
I thought for sure we would get stopped at the MCBR, since most of the braking/transferring is done with tires and we all know (thanks to Demon Drop) that tires and rain don't like each other. We weren't stopped though, and while we were going though the brake run, I looked over and everyone was huddling under the "tent covers" that they have in the queues, and some people fled the line.
By the time we got to the end of the ride, we were all soaked. We were just drenched. The only dry spot on us was where the overhead restraints were, and where the bicycle seat was. As we turned the corner to head back into the station, we saw them send an empty train up the lift so that there would be room for us (Thank You Mantis Crew!) Everyone in the station, including the ride ops just cheered when we got back in. It was one of the most memorable rides, other than getting stuck, that I've ever had!
Oh yeah..and you should have seen our pictures...everyones face showed pain, and people were trying their best to take cover! Definetly had to buy that one!
Anyone else been on a ride when it started to pour?
