I was wondering, a few times I have been at CP they have closed coasters down due to light rain, which i can understand, but why is it that some other parks run the coasters in rain thats falling pretty good?? Does CP do this for there saftey record, or is there some other reason? (and please no bashing other parks, just really want to know the true reason for this)

It might be for the safety record, some coasters use kicker wheels though, and they dont perform right when wet, same with brakes (especialy on Demon Drop). Some times even with moderate rain some of the rides are still running (Ive been there and rode at those times).

Have you ever ridden Magnum in the rain. I got one word for you. OUCH! I love every second that I am on Magnum but when that light rain gets heavier I will be the first to admit that its no fun riding.
The infamous day last season where I broke 1,000 laps on magnum and they took the big red machine down to one train, we had many painful rides. If it wasn't the wind that was slowing the trains down it was the rain hitting us like bullets. Then again I will never forget that day, riding all morning and into the afternoon the sun was out and the weather was perfect.

OUCH! Now try riding batman and robin the chiller in the rain, now that hurts! I never rode magnum in the rain, it seems on the days I was there in the rain they closed it down.

Riding the Millennium Force in the rain willbe the best, because you will be falling with the rain.
Well riding in the rain can't be worse than riding Mantis a few years ago, in the front car, when the bugs were thick as.....flies?

Ok Dan and Jeff...let us think about last Halloweekends in the downpours riding Raptor again and again and again!
Even the ride ops said to me "you are NUTS!"
everytime the floor dropped and we went out in the downpour
Raptor only "closed" a few times but not because of the brakes-it was due to Raptor rust (pee)people were complaining it was getting all over their clothes. I rode Raptor 20x the one night-and I honestly dont remember is NOT raining during each trip! It hurt BAD-
but it was a BLAST!
(ps-rode Mantis front car in the rain and it does hurt more than Raptor basically cause you're standing up and your entire body is exposed)
It will be interesting to see if they run MF in the rain or not-if they do
I'll be there!!!

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
