Questoins about Swan boats

I just read a rumor about CP possible tkaing out the swan boats for the 2002 attraction.
Are the swan boats very crowded?
How much land do they take up?
Enough for a S&S TA2K or a b&m SITDOWN?

Any info about why they wouldn't get taken out would also be great.
Not big enough for either... Maybe thier queues... but not the rides....

MF 2000 - 269 laps

MF 2001 - 59 laps as of (5/28/01)
I would seriously doubt it as well? What would they do, fill in the pond? Seems pretty crazy to me. Also, the queue is not big at all. I could possibly see room if the Wave Swinger was removed, but it makes you ask the question- where would the new queue be for the roller coaster? Also to quote Jeff:
Cedar Point does not have a space problem (TM),
so why would they use that very nostalgic location at the beginning of the Frontier Trail?

Why would they use the very nostalgic location formally known as Fascination for Johnny Rockets?

Why would they remove the swan boats, they are on a small part of the snf lake and there's not room for a rollercoaster of some sort. I bet that woodstock express wouldnt even fit in the land footprint.

Hi, my name is Josh and I'm addicted to Cedar Point.
The map must make it look bigger than it is. I'm aware Cedar Point dosen't have a space problem. But your gonna have to move or take out something for it to fit though.
Good point Gemini, and I think we all know what the answer is:
$$$

I think that Dan is saying that they could possibly move the Swan Boats to MA. I hope that doesn't happen though. Although, Swan Boats would be nice in the lake at MA, I like them at Cedar Point.
I doubt anything is going there. They have already posted the signs for the upgraded haunted house that's going to be next to the swan boats for HW. Not that they couldn't take the haunted house down at the end of Oct and do something in that spot. I'd say other areas of the park are more likely to have things done to them. The swan boats are a very low capacity ride. Not to mention that it's an athletic ride. We always seem to dwell on large folks not being able to ride on some of the coasters. Here is another ride where size does matter. It also has a very small foot print. I'm not sure it's big enough for anything. Maybe another climbing wall. Here is another for the Lemon Chill guy........

Get with it or die in the process.....
I heard they are taking out the swan boats to, and putting a refridgeration system in the pond. They are gonna have Ice Skating all summer in that pond.
There is a fairly large area of land behind WWL. And there is a huge que adjacent to the pond that hasn't been used in years. That area of the park gets dead for majority of the season.

If they used the TC que, Swan Pond, "Carousel Pavilion", Wave Swinger foot print, and space behind WWL they have enough room for a good sized ride. Wave Swinger would fit in nicely with the boardwalk, and we all know how much CP hates low capacity rides.

I wouldn't call it fact, but it's probably one of the smarter rumors.

2001 park line up:

Cedar Point: June 1(canceled), 2, 3, 11, July 4-5

Soak City: July 3 *** This post was edited by Magnum is sinking! on 6/5/2001. ***
Yeah, I would agree it is possible, but not with the Swan Boats space alone. I've also heard the ice skating rumor, and it is very probable (if not in that pond, in another place)

A Skating Rink at CP? Are you serious? That sounds very odd to me, and I wrote the book on being odd ;).

Be there through the thick and thin.
A new theamazementpark.com on July 4!

Your right about the area behind WWL. They did use part of TC's old que line for the haunted house last HW's. From there you could get a good like at the open space. They had moved TC's rafts and had them stored there at the end of the season. If they did relocate the Wave Swinger and created a que line for the Undertaker U. You might fit a ride in there. I still vote that other areas are more likely to have something done. The WS would make a good board walk addition. That does seem like a good fit. The only thing I could think of is that they seem to cluster rides together. Low, Medium, and High. That way everyone can stay close together. Something for the kids, teens, and adults. That area does have more than it's share of low impact rides. The Lemon Chill guy has seemed to stay silent. No speculation here, just logistics...

That is such a nice scenic area of the park, a huge ride would have a big negative impact on the area. I can't see them taking the Swan Boats out, but there is no reason they can't purchase more boats for Michigan's Adventure. The Swan Boats can't be very expensive.
