Questions about the B&M's

I just thought I would put both of these questions into one thread, SO...

Why are Mantis' restraints black by the head?  I think it looks kind of sick and Raptor's restraints aren't like it.]

-And-

Do Raptor's brakes bite as hard as they did last year?  I noticed on my Coasters of Cedar Point video's POV of Raptor that it almost stops, but all 5 times I rode this year, it seamed that there was no braking at all.

Thanks a lot!

Magnum may be high, but Raptor rules the sky!

I think for the first question, Raptor's restraints used to be like that but for 2001 they got brand new ones, I could be wrong though.

Yea, Raptor got the paintjob and new restraints this year and it looked brand new if you ask me.  Mantis is supposed to get painted this offseason.  I'm not sure if they're redoing the restraints, but that would certainly look nice.  I can't wait until they paint Magnum! :)

I hope they put in new restraints on Mantis! The ones now are turning brown on the insides! Ugh!

The brown on Mantis I think is either dirt (blech) or just the 1st layer of the restraints coming off like what Raptor's had been doing in years past. I can't wait for Banshee to get painted, the blue looks purple it's faded out so badly!!
Raptor did get new restraints last year, and the brakes are hitting no harder than they did last year, I do believe last year they started hitting that hard. Why? New pads? ;)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??

Uh...Mantis' supports are supposed to be purple...a dark purple. Nowadays, they look more of a lavender...like the station supports in Gemini. :)

If only Magnum would get retrofitted with modern lapbars such as Intamin's, the ride would be perfect...
... or at least fix them so the lapbars stay up when your getting in and out of the train. That gets quite annoying! :)

Hey - Magnum is perfect the way it is! :)  Well, at least it was when I left it.  I guess the trains have been going to hell again lately.  To anyone who complains about the bars hurting - just ride alot and you'll develop those "Magnum legs." :)

I love the way Maggie glides through the pretzel with the trims off! :)

Intamin lapbars, evil. Arrow lap bars, good. :). Plus they keep people in. ;).

Try Cross your legs at the ankles on Magnum. That way you hit the bar with the soft muscle tissue on your inner thigh instead of right on the bone.

I rode Gemini more than once during a day.

...but what about people standing up on the lift...you don't hear about that on any Intamin rides. ;)

No comment. ;) I see people standing up on a B&M all the time. Whats up with that?

I say go the other way. Retrofit Millie with Arrow Bars :).

But you don't hear about thigh brusing that's not the result of stapling on intamins... I say keep the Magnum lap bars, but have them spring loaded to stay up... In other words, they would go up when released without lifting them. That would help to keep them from slamming down. Also padding couldn't hurt either!

Stapling on MF can cause something worse than bruised legs, it can press onto a filled bladder of someone who hasn't gone to the bathroom since they got in line a couple hours before. :) Also, in Rideman's case, it can hurt the men-folk.

Magnums lap bars are fine! And as for people standing up on the lift, it gives us ride ops something to do and a little bit of excitement in our day, even though most of the time we hate it!

Haha yea Gina, especially during the day in July when we were trying to beat our 23,000 mark when Andy had to run just about to the top for some little bugger trying to stand!  A tip for anyone thinking about standing on Maggie's lift.  Don't do it, or they'll make sure you hate Arrow lapbars!   The best was being in controls one time when Mike ran up there and watching it on the camera.  First he "made sure" that the lapbar was working properly.  Then as he was walking back down, the kid started giving him lip, so he turned around and "double checked" again.  Andy and I were watching in controls and laughing so hard!

Yeah, I remember during Millennium Mania some guy took of his seatbelt and we were stopped on the lift. Dustin came up and "checked" his bar an belt ;). That guy was not going anywhere and I think he learned his lesson. The trims were off too!

I don't want exactly Intamin bars, but something a litttle more comfortable.  They are really weighed down and don't really lock and stay somewhere very good, that's all.  An idea could be to leave those lap bars but make the locking system more like MF's, with infinate positions.
Joe, when we were stopped on the lift the guy had his lap bar way up! But, the guy couldn't help it, his legs were so long!
