Questions about heartline roll?

Jesz's avatar

I know this is a bit late in asking, but last year when Maverick came out I wasn't on this website too much. We wern't going to be making it to CP (for the 2nd year in a row), and coming here just depressed me. Not to mention that we didn't even have a computer.

So anyway, I was searching old posts and I have a few questions about the heartline roll being removed. What is a heartline roll? Why is it so "dangerous"? And why exactly was it removed?

Thanks. :)

Maverick's (now gone) heartline roll

The heartline roll itself was not dangerous to the rider. However, it created huge stresses on the train itself. The park said that if the roll were to be left in, the trains would wear out so fast, they'd need to replace the trains every few years.

I wish they would have kept the track for halloweekends though, could have made a great set piece with some skeletons and a bit of welded bits at one end to look like the track had been torn apart at the end.

Does anyone know if it is still sitting at Adena?

Last time I went that way it was, which was a little over a month ago. I'll verify again tomorrow.

The roll being removed from the ride makes me think. The calendars or whatever they gave out have the number of inversions on it. Now that is false, will it be worth anything to collectors? Also, why are they keeping the heartline roll? Do they plan on selling it to the highest bidder or something.

After they get another piece fabricated, they plan on installing it on either side of Wicked Twister. ;)

I have all of the animation videos, along with the wallpaper, and 2007 Getaway Guide that show the heartline roll and list three inversions. Most of the pictures and video with the HR in it have been taken off of CP's website, but I find it funny that some still remain. Like the heartline roll construction wallpaper in Extra Point, or the pointcast where T&T say the 360 degree HR is their favorite part of the ride.

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

Please excuse the newbish question but did people actually get to ride it with said roll? I would be so jealous!

^^^ I noticed that part in the PointCast video too. I chuckled at the irony. :)

I wish they were ablr to keep the heartline roll! I know I love the roll on the Raptor! But with or without the roll, I love the Maverick! It is a great addition to the Cedarpoint Family!
