Question of restraint(s)

Greetings,

I have a very excited little girl that expects to finally be the magic 48" this year to be able to ride the "big" coasters. What I've been wondering is if I need to worry about her weight - she is an eight year old peanut, just hitting 45 pounds now - I started wondering if the restraints would hold her little body safely in place.

While we are both looking forward to riding something "big" other than the Iron Dragon this year I'd not want the ride to be too exciting.

Thoughts from others that have introduced their little ones to the big rides?

My daughter just barely hit 48" last year (6yrs old) and weighed roughly 50lbs. She went on Millennium Force. I buckled her seat belt and pulled as tight as i could and had the ride op do the same, the restraint came all the way down on top of her upper thighs. She wasn't going anywhere!

She loved it! Kept screaming and i asked her how it was and she said it was so fast that she couldn't talk!

She even rode SkyScraper in Challenge park 4 times!

I have a 7 year old roller coaster nut. She was 5 and riding the beast and vortex at KI! MF, Maverick, WT, etc... Were all things she rode last summer at age 6. Its just like with a car seatbelt. They still have the skeleton of an 8 year old which is what is really important!

When i was 6, i thought i would fall out of every ride at Coney Island. Especially the Python

I. HATE. STINKBUGS.

I'm 31 and still feel like I'll fall out of Python!

At three she rode "Vapor Trail" at Sesame Place 17 times in a row and it is a fairly decent coaster for one built with little ones in mind. She has been very annoyed that her stature has kept her off the big rides to this point...what she really wants to ride is Gatekeeper (and Maverick.) She knows that is not on tap for her this summer, but plenty of others ought to be in her reach now.

I am so excited to be able to introduce her Blue Streak, Magnum, and MF this summer...so I'll just make sure to pull the belt tight.

FWIW this past Sunday she just squeaked into the 48" mark for a coveted red wristband. Good thing she wore her newer shoes.

She has yet to crack fifty pounds so she it small - but she said she felt secure on both Magnum and MF rides.

She did destroy her voice screaming "this is awesome" over and over on both rides.

I'll call that a successful test.
