Question for you Cedar Point Junkies..

I am turning into one myself! :-) I live about 8.5 hours away and I have made the trip to Cedar Point the past two years in July/August. This year, we are going on May 30 and 31st, and we were just wondering about the attendence and line waits and stuff like that. Is it considerably better? I just would hate to wait 3 hours again for MF, Even though its totally worth it. :-D How's the weather? Anywhere we can get discounted tickets? We live in Kentucky, and don't have AAA. :-( We are staying at an Econolodge on W. Cleveland Rd. How close is this to CP? We never stay in Sandusky when we've went previous times, always with a family member in Findlay. Just asking to know a little of what to expect!

Yes, crowds are usually less in May and the weather can be cooler. I don't know the answers to your other questions. Try using google or yahoo maps.

There's a Meijer (grocery store - not sure if you have 'em in Kentucky) in Sandusky, and in years passed they have offered discounted ticket purchases. I know that Pepsi cans have had coupons on them in our area (about 3 hours from the park), and you could redeem them at Meijer. Give them a call and ask.

There are also discounts on tickets purchased online through Cedar Point. Buying tickets online saves you $4 each, and you can simply print them out and bring them with you.

Hope this helps!

Wow, perfect setup for MrScott to plug Lighthouse Point, and he doesn't.

Shhhh!!! Jugga, I was gonna see what would happen if no one mentioned it... Now, he's gonna mention it for sure. Way to ruin my little experiment, John.

*Disclaimer*
While I tend to agree with MrScott that the crowds are generally less in May, noone here can predict what the crowds will be like on any given day.

A Wed Thur combo is a pretty safe bet that it would be, but its always a roll of the dice. Yahtzee!

How's the weather?

This is Ohio. Ask us again in 30 minutes, as it will be different. To weathermen Ohio is known as the "Bermuda Triangle". Some go missing after 2 months on the air...and are never heard from again. Legend is they go mad trying to predict the weather...

Anywhere we can get discounted tickets?

DjDaemon has led you on a wise path...

I am turning into one myself!

Welcome to our circle of friendship. :)

If someone is driving over 8 hours to visit (gas), staying off Point at an "Econolodge" (cheap), they probably don't want to spend the extra $$ on Lighthouse Point.

But they would have a better time if they did. ;)

And when has that stopped you before?

It was 5 in the morning when I originally responded and since that I am now unemployed and staying up later, my fingers had not awakened enough to type a proper response.

Brittany would have a better time if she stayed in our little community known as Lighthouse Point. The extra you pay to stay there is made up in cost savings on food, drinks, and no parking fees. Not to mention that you are living at the park for a few days and don't have to drive off Point.

Is that better, Jugga?

I stay at Econolodge every year. 1904 Cleveland Rd is two miles away. It is right across from the Cedar Point causeway so you pull out turning right and hit a quick left and it is a straight shot from there. I just booked my room yesterday for the 7th of may till the 11th.

Last year we stayed at the other Econolodge on Milam? Rd. I remember it being a short drive to the park but passing the one on Cleveland Rd. and wishing we had stayed there because it was even closer. The price was right and the room was clean. As mentioned above, we went to Meijer and picked up two Ride/Slide tickets for the two day visit. I think I saved about around 5 bucks per ticket by getting them there. Was there June 9-10 Thurs-Fri and found light/moderate crowds (longest wait was for TTD about 50 min). Didn't get ERT so went to MF first thing and waited about 40 min. each day. MaXair wait was about 1 hr both days. Everything else was very short wait if not walk on. It did rain both days (very badly on Thurs) but still managed to get in all the coasters, Soak City, and all the flats we wanted to ride except MaXair. This year I have saved up to stay at LHP for 3 days opening week and I'm going nuts waiting for May 7th!

You will love LHP! Don't forget charcoal and some kind of meat. An electric griddle is handy for breakfast.

Exactly. There are about seven of us going. All college students, so as you can imagine, we are scraping the bottom of the bucket to go this one time. We looked into staying at one of the resorts, but we just couldnt afford it. We'll just drive two miles every morning and night! I did remember a Meijer giving discounts, but is it hard to get to from the Econolodge? We arent familiar with the area, except just going straight from Route 4, (i think) to Cedar Point.

The Econolodge is pretty darn close to the park. Not the nicest place to stay (or so I've heard) but hey, it's a place to sleep for cheap, and that's all you really need. The Meijer is not hard at all to get to from the hotel, although it is about 10 minutes away with traffic. Another option for discounts might be the Pepsi cans that have been mentioned. Once you're somewhere in Ohio that's close to Sandusky, find a highway rest stop and buy a can of Pepsi there. You'll have to read the fine print, but I believe that one can is good for something like 4 or 6 discounts. You'll have a good time. By that time of May, the weather typically is much nicer. Just make sure you bring a bit of everything and if it's cold in the morning, try to dress in layers.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Thanks! You guys have been so helpful! I cannot even wait to go. I have watched all the videos on the website about 900 times to help with my anticipation. I have having Cedar Point withdrawal symptoms! We are going with 4 people who have never been and I cant wait to share their first CP experiences. I love taking new people! :-)

does anyone know for sure if meijer will have discount tix this year (for one day or two day) since cp lowered their prices? or if there will be a pepsi can deal?

I was told by my local meijer that they are "on the way", but she was unsure. I get my season passes there.
