Question about Season Passes

My dad is thinking about getting us all CP season passes for next year, and I'd like to know a few things. First off, how exactly do they work? i.e., if you order them online, do you get certificates delivered to you or what? Also, I went on opening day two years ago and there was a humongous line in front of the season pass center at opening. Is it always like this, because we are thinking of going on opening day again.

Yes.

If you can make it to the park before opening day to get your pass picture taken, that is certainly in your best interest. Lines on opening day will be long. If you cannot make it to the park before opening day, get there early on that day to beat the crowds.

I thought that I once read that previous season pass holders could renew their passes online.. Without having to take their picture again.

Is this true?

Well, not online exactly. You download a form which you fill out and send to them with the certificates. They send you the pass with last years picture. Worked great for me. The only problem is when I am 30 I may still have the same picture from when I was 19 ;).

If you want to try to beat the crowds for the SP center on Opening Day, get there EXTREMELY early.

About the whole:

"send them last years pass in the mail and the'll send you the new one..."

I did have a pass last season, did not get one this season. Do you think or better yet know if last years pass will work for next year?

Either way I'm going to contact the park or read a little into it but if you could give me a head start on my question I would appreciate it!

You don't send them you old pass, but they use the picture off the old one. They have your pic stored in their computer if you had a 2001 or 2002 pass. I'm not sure if they dumped out the ones from 2001 that did not renew this year though. When the renewal forms come out I'm sure they will mention something about it.
