So, is this going to replace media day, do you all think? Because it kind of SOUNDS like it will. And I haven't seen Tony tweeting anything about media day...have any of you heard anything?
In a way, yes. But there is still a media event in the morning, but you can only go if you were in the Winter Chill Out and your name gets drawn.

Media day is a time-honored tradition where amusement parks invite in members of the media for an early preview of new attractions to obtain pictures/video for use in various media publications and broadcasts. It has been around for a while and will continue to be around for a while.
What changed in recent years was that Cedar Fair started inviting enthusiast groups to attend media day in order to fill seats and provide interviews. This seems to have backfired, and now they are backing away from this practice. Carowinds and Cedar Point are only inviting select off-season event attendees as well as first rider auction winners to attend their respective media days.
The passholder preview night is new but does not necessarily replace the media day invitation, since not all passholders are club members and not all club members are passholders. It is something that used to be done at certain parks and has been requested by the public to be brought back.
