Question about attendance

The planning for my CP trip is such that I am trying to make it on the less busy of days (Wednesday and Thursday)...but I may have to change my plans and do my trip on Thursday and Friday. I don't want to, because I am pretty sure that Friday will be a lot more busier than Thursday or Wednesday.

Well, for those of you who have been there on all those days, how much busier is Friday than Wednesday and Thursday? I want to know so I can make my plans...if it isn't that much worse I will go on Friday, if it is, I will have to plan for another week.

The park says "Tuesdays" as a day that is low in attendance, yet every time I go o na tuesday it's more packed than usual. Is wed. empty? Or is it packed? Or what? lol just wondering the flows.

While I don't go to CP nearly as much as I used to (which was about 20 times/year), here's what I've found. From May-Early June, Tuesday's and Wed's are best for a couple reasons. Obviously students are in school and most people just prefer to go on a weekend for convenience. But what makes Tues/Wed best? Well, many people take off a Monday or Friday for CP, so that they can have a 3-day weekend (and maybe so they can stay at CP for a couple days in a resort). Additionally, many people crowd in Friday evenings, after they get off work or school.

However, in the months of July/August, going on a Tuesday is not much better than other week days because students are off for the summer. While going on a Tues-Wed in these months will be a bit better, it's not nearly the difference you'll find in May-Early June. The greatest attendance nightmare is going to be a Saturday in July/August or Fourth of July.

Another way to get an idea of how attendance will be is by looking at the hours the park is open. If they're open until 12AM (4th of July), you know it's going to be packed. In contrast, you'll find weekdays in May open until 8PM, showng low attendance.

Of course other factors play a role in attendance such as weather (it's possible to find a dead day in peak months if the weather was predicted severe thunderstorms/winds. etc.). In general, I've learned the best to worst attendance days are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Monday, Friday, Sunday, Saturday.

Ffej echoes my experiences as well. Even during the week in high summer (July/August), you are likely to have lines of an hour or more due to the number of resort guests in the park. The only saving grace is predicted bad weather that keeps the day trippers home. Personally, I love going when the weather report predicts storms.

I have found that the last week of August, going into September, the park is pretty empty. I know that a lot of schools go back to business that week, including most colleges...except for OSU. I would suggest going around that time.
