Push Down, Then Pull Up!

I thought I remember back in the day that you had to push down then pull up with the lap bars on Gemini and Magnum, and perhaps the OTSR on Corkscrew. This year was the first time I noticed on these rides you can just push up and they will go. Did they switch the locking mechanisms from ones like on the PTC trains or have I just been doing a lot of unnecessary pushing down for most of my life? :)

Let's say you've been doing alot of extra exercise! LOL.
This is the 13th season of riding Magnum and I've never pushed down and then pull up.
Some OTSR at other parks you have to. I can't recall which ones.

Usually the only time you have to push down and then up is when the restraints get stuck. At least that's the only time that I have ever had to.

When I rode the MS once, the ride op had pushed my lap bar so far down before the ride that I couldn't push it down enough when the ride was over! She had to go get a little tool that she stuck into the train to make the bar release.
I don't remember on what coasters, but at SFGAm. they told us to do this. I rode American Eagle, Viper, and Demon. Two are wooden and one is an Arrow Corkscrew. Ever since then I have done it on every coaster I ride. Stupid me.
VIPER RULES!! Proves that a smooth woodie is possible unlike some (cough)MS(cough)!
