I am considering paying the extra money this year to book a room at Breakers instead of Breakers Express like we normally do.
I am wondering if the extra cost is really worth it.
I like the idea of being able to go right into the park without having to find a place to park.... I also like the idea of being able to go back to my room whenever I need something without having to leave. It seems very convenient.
With Breakers Express, I really like being able to take a break from the park for a couple hours if I need to, and I guess I could do that at Breakers... but it's nice to mentally remove myself from the park and have a place to relax for a little bit that isn't the park.... I also like the drive into the park, as that is just a beautiful and exciting drive up the peninsula.
What do you think? is the extra cost worth the price?
I love the Breakers most of all. The nostalgia of it is worth the cost to me. I will admit, I am a little sad after the remodel as of course some of the original building was lost. It's an experience of a time gone by which is so lacking in this country since we do not have the older historic buildings like countries abroad. So for me, it's that connection with the past that is felt there that's very precious, and is so much worth the extra cost of staying there. I've stayed at every hotel: Castaway Bay, Sandcastle, Breakers Express, and nothing compares to the Breakers. I love it.

If you stay on property you still have the benefit of being able to leave the park to go shopping, eat at restaurants, etc. and "get away" for a while. So keep that in mind. As far as whether the extra price is worth is or not, that's something only you can decide. How much is the convenience of being on property worth to you? The additional money that you spend at Breakers can always be used for other things so you have to decide whether or not that convenience is worth more than say buying meal plans or fast lane passes for the day.
Yes.
Your list of Breakers Express pros dont say much to me. Mentally remove yourself from the park? What is that?
Spend the money and make the walk to the hotel when you need to decompress or go for a bandaid, and try not to feel bad about missing that beautiful and exciting time spent in traffic.
lol... I realize how dumb that sounds... but when I've been trapped in super busy Halloweekend crowds in the past, it's nice to leave the park and not be surrounded by the park atmosphere for a couple hours.
My fear is that if I stay in on the grounds, I will not get that aside from being in my room.

Oh, you're talking a busy Halloweekends weekend?
Ok, it seems to me the way to avoid those oppressive crowds would be not to go at all, but to each his own.
Do you find it restful to leave the park, drive to Express, then wait in a line of traffic to get back (I know, there is that view...) then look for a place to park? How about the crush of traffic trying to leave at midnight?
Breakers has rooms with doors that lock. To me its a no brainer, especially in the fall.
Ok, I'm out.
Try it once, if you don't like it, back to Breakers Express you go!
thank you guys... I have been going for 25 years and have never stayed on the grounds... so I think that it is a nostalgic 'can't teach an old dog new tricks' mentality.
And I don't love the crowds at Halloweekends, but I LOVE Halloween... so it has been tradition to go there that time of year.
... I think I will take your advice and will try Breakers this year!
