Project 2003 to make a BIG statement

Some people thought that Wicked Twister was a symbol of giving SF:WoA two middle fingers, especially at S:UE...

Project 2003 to me is going to make that same statement but in a BIGGER way... SF:WoA really spent much of its advertising bashing Cedar Point, so this is Cedar Point's politically correct and polite way of saying "Up yours!"

But I don't think it is necessarily directed at SF:WoA only, but at every park in the SF chain, or outside the chain that has tried to mess with Cedar Point. I think Cedar Point also has something to say to Nagashima Spa Land for putting up Steel Dragon 2000 when it did.

Project 2003 will be very loud and clear....

I could not agree more, with the real winner being the coaster enthusiast. I hope SF makes an equally loud rebutal in the future. Clearly MM has something planned for 2003 as well.

It wasn't "some people," it was me.

And I doubt very much that this is a testicular challenge for the SF parks. It's only a way to get more butts in the park.

HERE, HERE JEFF! I SECOND THAT NOTION!!
CP and SF hates eachother to the guts and since SFWoE won't get anything new for a looong time, I think Cedar Point can sit high and mighty for a while

Jeff,

Sorry if you thought I was generalizing you as "some people"... I knew you said it in a thread last year. But there have been a few of my friends that have stated the same thing to me not on GTTP... that's why I said "some people".

Let's just say that a statement is going to be made by the new ride.

I definitely think this is an act of one-upmanship. Of course the coup de grace would be if #16 is taller than S:TE at SFMM. It's like CP is saying, "You insulted us in your commercials. Now we'll insult you by making a better ride." Plus it would give CP more coasters than SFMM's 15, at least for the time being.

Even if the ride is just L:TH:B, if it tops 415', it's a way of saying, "Ha, Ha, who's got the tallest ride NOW?" :)

whoops

i didnt mean to do that but, of course CP wants to screw SF, and you know SF has the money and the tech to beat CPs new ride, assuming it beats S:UE(sue SF, and as i recall someone did b/c "X" wasnt open...) but will there be a company that wants to try to beat it? Intamin made SUE so why are they making this one? and theyre building a mega coaster in Japan that beats Mill's lift hill incline, and a gigacoaster in Denmark that beats everything so far(except most likely Project '03) so why does intamin desire to beat there own records, could someone explain that?is it b/c different parks pay more to get the better ride?

Intamin is a business. It's sole purpose for existing is to earn "money". Amusement parks give them "money" in exchange for their coasters. Parks are also businesses and, hence, also want to earn "money". People are more likely to visit parks with record-breaking costers, and visiting parks costs "money".

Seems pretty obvious to me.

I agree, Mr. M. With all CP's publicizing their records and awards, you better believe CP is in a competition with SF. And it's for all the butts that Jeff spoke of. I'm not sure about the testicular challenge, but I am sure there is a lot of testosterone in CF's boardroom. The phallic symbolism of #16 not withstanding, I think CP is making a big statement to SF, saying "Catch us if you can. You may have the same number, but ours are bigger, taller, faster, longer, pick one."
We know that SF:MM is putting up a B&M... so I doubt that would top #16... I have searched my brains out on several coaster sites to see if there is a possibility of another park trying to top #16, but yet have to find anything. CP will rule them all!
gigacoaster denmark at heide park. supposed to be 412ft. look here

look around that site, its pretty neat, not much american stuff, but you can see what the rest of the world has to offer...

I found on that website you just gave me where it mentions a 300+, but that does not prove it could be a 400+...

And, that is for 2004 supposedly... who knows what will happen between now and then...

Sorry to prove you wrong but Heide Park isn't getting a 412 giga-coaster, they are getting a 377 ft Intamin gyro-drop. That coaster was just a roomer.

well i actually feel better now-CP still has the biggest gigacoaster
Funny I found Wicked Twister more of a phillic symbol. Project 2003, or number 16 will make a BIG statement. It will be either, hey come to our park and ride our giant coaster. Or for some odd reason attendence numbers don't rise much, no matter what kind of hype surounds this ride. Which I guess would make a BIG statement.

Side Note: Remember Bill and Teds Bogus Journey when Bill and Ted fall into the hole to hell.

Bill: AHHHHHH
Ted: AHHHHHH
Bill: AHHHHH
Ted: AHHHH

Bill & Ted AHHHH
Ted: Dude, this is pretty deep hole
Bill: Yah

Bill & Ted: AHHHHH

Me thinks we will be hitting that point with in the next 10 years or sooner.

By the way, don't let coaster records worry your life. Its just steel and bolts.

Millenium Force costed Cedar Point apx $25 000 000... if you were the CEO of Intamin, and Six Flags offered you another huge some of money to build a taller ride, wouldn't you? Dispite Intamin's relationship with Cedar Point, they have to sell to every park who's willing to pay them, it's the nature of business.
