Project 2002

Cedar Point generally puts in a new Big Ride every two years.

89: Magnum-XL 200
91: Mean Streak
94: Raptor
96: Mantis
98: Powertower
00: Millennium Force

With the Boardwalk project that MIGHT happen. What will Cedar Point do for the next big project. Some people speculate that they will put in a CCI woodie, a B&M Floorless, and others. But what will they really put in??? I would love to see a new kind of coaster built by Intanim. They sure rocked our world with Millennium Force. So Intanim should build the next RC. Floorless coasters are ok, but They seem like a reg. Coaster w/ Loops unless u are in the front seat.

Magnum:10, MeanS: 5
Who knows. There might be a nice ride or rides next year. If CP where to add this boardwalk project and tear down the things Jeff speculates on, I have a hard time believing that at least some flat/spining rides would not be included, if not some kind of coaster. I'm sure 2002 will bring a huge coaster, but we have countless threads on this.
Anyone know what are all the types of coasters intamin offers? Because i believe they are building the 2002 coaster
Like Net said there are TONS of these threads open on this site.

A big ride every two years???

A side from the 2000 season, the park has a yearly budget. They spend the same on expansion almost every year.

If they are going to have a boardwalk they will have to put some attractions on it, like flat rides and such.
What did they do in 97' besides add Chaos?

Took out the Dolphin show, I think.
Cedar Point needs to add there very own NEW coaster. Something completely different from all others. Like Stealth at PGA. Something original!
Like a TA2k!
I think CP needs a new wooden more than anything else. The park has only only 2 wooden coasters, really 1 since I don't count Mean Streak as a ride anymore. Plus i think a wooden would better suit the atmoshpere of a boardwalk. After all back when the boardwalk amusment parks where out all they had were wooden coasters. Anything close to Viper or Villain would be great with me, just please don't put in a floorless, let the fad pass
They put in the Swan Boats in 1997. Chaos and Swan boats where more expensive than you think. For one, they both are built on water.

They also added the wave pool and water slides to Soak City in 1997.

I think that it's pretty much assumed that CP will add a coaster in 2002. It's only a matter of which type they will add. I personally would like to see a launch coaster.

I think they added Snake River Falls in 1997.

Snake River Falls was 1993. As mentioned, the biggest capital improvement in 97 was the Soak City expansion. It was also the first year for the Midway Market and Quarterdeck Arcade.

Chaos isn't built on water, though I recall there was difficulty in getting it opened back then.

Chaos was the first ride I ever saw that wasn't open by opening day. Remember, Chaos is purchased from a dealer -- it isn't custom built or anything, and there are others exactly like it -- colors and all -- all over the country. Maybe it had something to do with that aspect of it.

I seem to recall Monster opening very late one year due to a part needed from overseas.

It is not totally imposible to get a inverted stand-up coaster. I found a picture of a new freefall tower design by Intamin that could be used as a inverted stand-up design. But for all you hopefuls who wants one you probebly have to wait till 2004 if even they would get one.

that's possible, but the person who wanted a stand up floorless-not gonna happen-what are you supposed to stand on??
